Here the thing is recently many anonymous thugs and some newly created users are using bad and abusive language on random user talk pages.Its about time we stop these goons by giving them an ban tag.the tag remains for a week and at the end based on number of votes and discussion done ,It will be decided whether to ban the user or not.
Sorry if there is already something like that going on! thanks!
um,that’s for an article.what happens is someone reports someone to an admin and the admin blocks that user who got reported.

Post the username/link on the Administrator Notice Board… http://www.wikihow.com/wikiHow:Administrator-Notice-Board
Or contact an Admin. http://www.wikihow.com/wikiHow:Administrators
That’s what we’re here for. (among other things)

The “ban tag” is useless unless you have an administrator’s support and notice. It is best to report the issue, and let the admin put the “blocked” notice on their talk page. Otherwise, you’re wasting your time… since putting the tag there does NOT block a user. It’s merely the notification that the act has been done… and only admins can block.
This way we are suppressing the abusive user from doing any more harm to wikihow and allowing admins to here there clarification and if they are satisfied with there clarification they allow the user otherwise banned! This makes it easier for admins to give a proper judgement!
thanks for info about the issue ! gracias Loiswade42 and Choc chip!

As an FYI, unless the abuse is absolutely clear (we’re talking beyond reasonable doubt), blocking is usually a last solution admins employ. Of course, each admin is different in their standard of “absolutely clear”, but each admin trusts each other’s judgement.
It’s vandalism, and I don’t like it can’t, be prevented, but it can be rolled back.

I too rolled it back but then I realized the user also used abusive language against one of the admins! so just thought of creating this article as the user was not the only one!
true my friend Metsguy234 !
Ah, the ambitious policymaker. …You remind me so much of me. At wikiHow users can be blocked for violating our policies. However, there has to be a great deal of evidence in order to apply even a short block - after all, edits can be rolled back/undone and we just forgive and forget. Besides, most vandals tend to get bored and go somewhere else. Don’t worry - our systems of combating spam and malicious behavior are very well thought-out and tested over the course of years. However, a slightly different approach might serve us well, depending on what it is, due to our increase in site traffic. In other words, a little bit of your idea may one day work its way into the system.
Wow ! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience ! “You ARE AwEsOmE IShareMahKnowledgeWisely !”

Wow. No thats cool. I once banned someone, they can’t go on it. Just ask Maluniu or BR or something. It shuts them up. Ps. Use these= {{911}} {{Kirby Time}}

Was trying to figure that out too… Maybe he means on another site?

It’s not only unacceptable to use abusive language against an admin, or even more unacceptable. It’s equally unacceptable regardless of who it’s aimed at.
