I’m working on creating a Hindi wikiHow and I’ve already spoken to @JackHerrick and @ChrisHadley regarding this. I have started translation of the important pages and I’m adding the [[Category:Hindi wikiHow]] on each of the translated pages as instructed by @JackHerrick . I’ve been wondering, how do I create the mainpage in Hindi. I’m talking about the page we see when we visit www.wikihow.com . I saw the spanish wikihow ( es.wikihow.com ) and the spanish mainpage is similar to the one in english, except that the font is all Spanish. But, the mainpages of the French and Italian wikiHows is different, or very different! My question is: How do I create the mainpage? The mainpage looks pretty complicated. For example: Top right of the page has to say: Welcome back,
|Help|Log Out (of course, these have to be in Hindi)

Then the RSS feed showing the featured articles, the different categories, new articles, and loads and loads of other things.

While communicating with Chris and Jack via e-mail, I was told that the wikiHow staff would create a partially-developed Hindi wikiHow which could take some (or a lot) of time and then we could get the Hindi wikiHow running. Would the main page also come under ‘partially-developed Hindi wikihow’?

Well, some of you might suggest me to ask Jack and Chris but I wanted to ask the whole wikiHow community and the only way I could do it was via the forums.

I apologise if I published this post in a wrong category of the forums as I’m pretty new to the same. Also, please excuse any gramatical or/ and spelling errors as English is actually my 3rd language.

Thank you,Gaurang Prasad

Have you tried downloading the source of the page? wikiHow has a nightly tar ball . But be forewarned: it is not for the faint of heart.

Will try, thanks.

So great you are already starting to work on translation. I don’t think we have an easy way to work on the main page right now. So I’d hold off on that till we have the language file ready for you. It will be easier to translate the main page once we got that ready. The other pages which are regular wiki articles are much easier to work with.

Thanks for the clarification, Jack!
