Hi wikihow community, I’m not sure if anyone has asked for this feature, but it would be nice to have an extra optional text box to write more info about what you want to be written on the suggested article. like, lets say I would like someone to make an article about how to make a cake. With the message box, we would be able to elaborate on what kind of make, and with what ingredients, etc. In that message box, we would be able to be more elaborate for the writer to see. And they get an idea about precisely what were talking about… Understand? Thanks, Jonathan

Actually, this idea isn’t that bad.

I like this idea:slight_smile:We actually used to have this, a long time ago, but we got rid of that because (1) most people weren’t filling it out and (2) when they did fill it out, they didn’t put information in there that would be useful to the writer. It was a very tiny percentage of people who used that box in the way you outlined, unfortunately!

This is a pretty good idea! It’s unfortunate that it didn’t work out before, but perhaps we could give it another shot. Sometimes, the title’s not really enough information, and this could really help out. Another idea I’ve had with the requested articles is that many of the requests have already been written, and authors don’t bother to check - what if we put that ‘duplicate recognition’ tool that’s on the article-writing page in the article request page as well to minimize numbers?

We could reintroduce this idea! I personally didn’t know we had this but it looks great. For a new user, I am impressed! Looks like we have a potentially great new editor on our hands!

Nice idea @Jhonny_Felix00 ! I think it would be useful. Sometimes when I am looking through requested articles I am not sure quite what the title means and a couple of times I have requested articles and the title has been misunderstood/misinterpreted.

You could make it not appear to the person writing the article if left blank, as not to confuse them, if possible. If people think the title alone is alright or haven’t really thought about anything more detailed than the title, then they can leave it blank. Otherwise, if you really wanted it to be filled in, if not filled in there could be a pop-up window saying something like ‘You haven’t given any extra info!’. A bit like in tips patrol: http://www.wikihow.com/Special:TipsPatrol Hope this helps, TammySin

Sounds awesome to me! Articles could then be written more specifically to pertain to the situation. Or, you could have a little tick box that says “do you want to add any specific details?” And then it could open the message box.

I think this idea, if properly implemented, could improve the quality of the articles written under suggested titles.
