We’ve had a very large backlog with adding intros to articles, that I feel would better be suited to a new tool. (I personally have my heart set on naming this the “Intro Greenhouse”). The tool would be used so that only the intros could be added and updated, as found by the list of articles with either “Intro”, “Introduction” or the much-older “Summarization” templates on them.
In this tool, we’d still have to tell the tool whether we’d be able to handle adding an intro to the article or not. But if we did go in to edit, the editing box would only show what’s currently in the article up to the point where the categories begin or where the Steps header line is shown.
If a person chooses to fix and add the intro, great. They can Publish the edit, and the tool can ask if the user feels the article can have it’s template removed (Yes/no question, much like most Greenhouse tools at this time).
Below the editing box, the tool-user would have access to the remainder of the article - perhaps even with a quick-edit feature. Now, obviously, edits from the tool would still enter RC Patrol and Special:Recentchanges, but it would make this chore a bit easier on folks trying to edit.
We’ve had build-a-thons to reduce this backlog in the past, but the backlog only grows and not much gets reduced from lots of editing from those few who begin the chore. Anna has created (now obsolete) Google Sheets for those entries containing these titles, but few use them, and they become obsolete very quickly. We edit, yet the number never decreases due to the number of incoming ones far increasing the number further. It seems like a never-ending cycle and something that our lively group of collaborative editors could handle, given our choice of knowledge - all of which we can pick and choose based on the top-level categories to filter the list of articles down to something more easily completable - again, much like most other tools.
I kind of agree with this. I think, though, we need the rest of the article present to add an effective introduction.
I like that idea.
I believe that was what suggested with having the remainder of the article below it. Correct me if I’m wrong.
Yep, that’s right.
BTW this got this meme
going.

Oooh a new tool! This is an exciting idea!
I’d like to see that in action!
I think this is a good idea.
Maybe it should be sent to the TOPIC GREENHOUSE instead?
I like this idea! @HappyWiki
I guess maybe not because the article might not exactly have a stub tag and mixing the 2 tags might not be the most efficient.
I think this is a great idea!
I like writting introductions - didn’t there used to be a way to view all the articles in need of an introduction?
Yep, there still is - you’ll find all articles in need of new intros at Category:Summarization

No. That doesn’t list all the titles there are. It lists the oldest bunch - up until those dated to sometime in 2015! However, that’s a good portion.
That’s the one I was thinking of - thanks Alex. It’s a place to start while I eagerly await the new tool, which, I do think is an excellent idea.
If it’s feasible to tackle with the devs present workload, then I think it’s a super idea.
Hey, Even if it isn’t created right now, at least I can say I gave my two cents of thoughts. I realize they have their own workload right now.
