I see some weird stuff written below a video, (no, it’s not the content that is meant to be shown), some steps on how to make video or whatsoever. The content is : “How to make a good video in 5 steps. So sorry if this is bad it’s my first time 1. Include all details ECT.( if your making a video tutorial do it step by step.) 2.Talk in an organized way. ECT.(say what you plan to say.) 3.stay on topic ECT.(don’t go off telling a story when you are doing a nail tutorial) 4.Plan it before you make it. ECT.(don’t just turn it on. It can take a month to get an idea 5.DO NOT be nervous!!! ECT.(talk high, don’t b shy! Hope this helps” I found that on 2 articles : http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Escape-Pelagius’-Mind&diff=12442534&oldid=12442530
and http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Sing-Happy-Birthday-in-Chinese&diff=prev&oldid=12370717
Anyone has an idea as to what this is about?
Encountered the same problem here: http://www.wikihow.com/Build-Your-Own-Variable-Bench-Power-Supply-Using-an-ATX-Power-Supply
P.S. I can’t find that part in editor. WTF?!? UPDATE: It seems like that who knows what pops up under EVERY video!!!
I would now like to believe that this is some error with the video adder tool…? I think this thread now deserves to be under bug reports… Moving…
I’m going through the history and I can’t find the edit where that was added. I think the only way to be “truly” anonymous on wikiHow, is by adding tips from our mobile site. I have noticed this today while voting on NFDs. This seems to be a greatly planned spam attack on our articles. Tagging @Krystle
and @Anna
Okay, I think I have found why that happened. That spam message was added to Template:VideoDescription which caused the spam to appear below the videos. The spam edit was rolledback a few hours ago. Diff: http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Template%3AVideoDescription&diff=12442761&oldid=12440739
I don’t know why the spam message isn’t disappearing even after being rolled back. Is there another template that controls the message? Or does it take time to update?
I just removed the video-code and added it again to this article: http://www.wikihow.com/Build-Your-Own-Variable-Bench-Power-Supply-Using-an-ATX-Power-Supply
(Matthew had spotted the spam message in this article). After removing it and adding it again, the message disappears. I hope we don’t have to do this to all affected articles.
Oh my Sweet and Beautiful Saint Elimine… This will take *some* time to fix. Should we lock such templates to avoid future problems?

Wow, good detective work here Gaurang. I protected that template page, good idea. As for the pages not updating with the template, that might be a caching issue. Does clearing cache and force refreshing make it go away?

I saw the bug again. It was under the video of How to Get Adopted on Club Penguin.

@Krystle
Made it go away by clicking on the Edit button, not editing anything, and hitting the Publish button. I’m using a different OS from earlier this morning and it works. It also could
be a caching issue since I’m not seeing it on other articles that have videos after doing the manual “article refresh”.

Good job, Gaurang! Nice that this issue has been resolved:)
