Over the course of the last few weeks I’ve been noticing something that needs to be fixed. There used to be a box that came up after publishing a new article. It used to have a checkbox we could check to get email notifications. Now, I know how to fix the problem, but if we could get that dialog box to come back again. It’s just not showing for me. I like knowing when any edit has occurred right from the start, but unfortunately, I seem to always forget to check back at the page. Second of all, this same dialog box was buggy too. It used to display when a redirect was created manually. I used to create redirects. But now it’s not even sending that box up at that point either. Again, I know about the “article notifications email” preferences page, but since I keep forgetting to go back after the articles I’ve written and checked these articles from the list, I also seem to loose track of any edits that occur. Please look into this issue and fix. EDIT: This notification also included the links to share the new article being published with Facebook and, if I can remember straight, Twitter. At last knowledge, it had no share button to neither Google+ nor Pinterest(so “no” it isn’t those sharing buttons on the top right of all article pages)

I tested in both Firefox and Internet Explorer and am still seeing this box. It’s possible that you accidentally unchecked the preference to receive this dialog. Can you go to your preferences? http://www.wikihow.com/Special:Preferences See if this box is checked. If it is not checked, that is why you’re not receiving this dialog. Check it so that you begin receiving it again:

That box is indeed checked. I’ll try something else that worked once before. Uncheck ing. Refreshing, then checking box once again. Upon next article submit(maybe tommarow) ill let you know from there.

Ok. Here it goes. Screencast recording.

Proof: This doesn’t work. I also proved that the boxes are checked. http://screencast.com/t/kHDAjj1tr4Q

I also proved something else on top, but that’s a different story.

Thanks for the screencast. I’ll investigate what else might be causing this…

Hey Chris, still checking this out. Can you tell me which browser this is happening with? If you use another browser, does the dialog still not show up?

Primarily happens on IE9 on Win Vista, and still doesn’t show up. Sorry for the delay, not getting notifications for some forums posts either.

Have tried on other browsers to no avail either(primarily most uptodate Firefox)

Tried to pubish an article via Firefox 16, and box still didn’t display there, either.

With one of my current-days articles, I saw what happened with the box in Firefox. Upon publishing, for a very brief (Split, literrally) second, it displayed, then, right before the page refreshed to show me the published article, that dialog box went away, and was never to be seen again). It only showed the top portion of that dialog box, so I know exactly what it box I saw. Trust me, it was the one in question. It’s not displaying in any browser I use still to this day. I know about the http://www.wikihow.com/Special:AuthorEmailNotification page, to enable the email notifications, but, in fear I’ll miss one and a major edit will happen, please look into this ASAP!

about a week ago at my local library, it was a mixed bag. it might be fixed. on thursday, i used firefox to publish an article, but had the problem. had to go in manually and straten it out. however, when publishing another article on same pc with same browser on Friday of last week, this notifications box came up. although i havent been lucky to publish one via Internet explorer, i should be working on these soon. do NOT close quite yet, nut i thnk its under control now.

Sometimes next week, I’ll publish the next new article. Getting back on my feet after the massive loss of my Internet connection on December 14!

I just tried publishing an article, to see if it would work on IE. However, I’m sorry to report, it’s not working on IE yet.
