@Anniemp
and I recently had a discussion about title changes which made its way into the realization that we have a tonof articles on How to Treat a Girl Well or Nicely. http://www.wikihow.com/Treat-a-Girl
http://www.wikihow.com/Treat-a-Girl-(Teen-Guys)
http://www.wikihow.com/Treat-Girls-With-Respect
http://www.wikihow.com/Treat-a-Girl-the-Way-She-Should-Be-Treated
http://www.wikihow.com/Treat-a-Girl-You-Like
http://www.wikihow.com/Treat-a-Woman
http://www.wikihow.com/Treat-Your-Girlfriend
http://www.wikihow.com/Treat-a-Girl-You-Love
http://www.wikihow.com/Treat-Girls-and-Women
http://www.wikihow.com/Treat-Your-Girlfriend-Like-a-Princess
http://www.wikihow.com/Really-Treat-Women
It seems to me like all of these could be merged together, but I’m a bit reluctant to do so, partially because there’s so many, partially because I’m not sure what the best title would be, and partially because all of these pages are relatively popular; almost all have 10,000+ views. Does anyone have any opinions on the best way to go about this?

To me, several of those seem distinct per the merge policy - some might be merge-worthy, but others have their own niche. Several are specific to particular relationships or situations, and therefore are likely to help readers, depending on what they’re searching for. Seems to me like you could merge http://www.wikihow.com/Really-Treat-Women
to http://www.wikihow.com/Treat-a-Woman
And possibly split the advice on http://www.wikihow.com/Treat-Girls-and-Women
between http://www.wikihow.com/Treat-a-Girl
and http://www.wikihow.com/Treat-a-Woman
A few of the others might be merge-worthy, but I wouldn’t lump the whole bunch into one. What do you think - are there specific pairs that seem interchangeable to you? Mass merges can be great when titles mean the exact same thing in all scenarios, but I’d hesitate in a case like this to lump everything into one bucket, per the merge policy and in relation what readers are searching and looking for, especially since many of these have pretty good helpfulness scores.
Delete the lot as stereotyping shouldn’t be encouraged?
I think Treat a Girl and Treat a Woman can be merged together (and Treat Girls and Women along with them). The dictionaries I’ve looked at say that girl means female child and woman means female adult, but where do we draw that boundary line? Really Treat Women could be merged into whatever comes out of this topic. Google Trends thinks that How to Treat Women
would be the best title. Also, I think Treat a Girl (or whatever comes out of the above) and Treat a Girl the Way She Should be Treated could be merged (and maybe even Treat Girls With Respect). It seems to me that the first article isn’t going to be talking about treating girls wrongly, and treating them with respect is “how they should be treated”. Plus, how different is treating a girl with respect from treating anyone else with respect? This article could maybe be merged with a generic “Be Respectful” article, unless it contains tips really
specific to girls, and I’m not sure what that would entail. Treating a Girl You Like, Treating a Girl You Love, and Treating Your Girlfriend all seem to be the same too. They’re all about behaving nicely to love interests. You could even see these as being merged with the generic one. Treating women nicely is probably still a good thing even if you don’t want to date her, and really, how much differently would you treat someone after she becomes your girlfriend than you would before? Google Trends still thinks How to Treat Women is the best result out of all these. I’m a bit hesitant about merging all of these too; that’s why I posted this on the forums for feedback (and why I wrote potential
merging. Most of these have helpful content, many of which the other articles don’t have. There’s a lot of different ways we could go on this…
I have to agree with the rest of the group, Andrew. The merge policy http://www.wikihow.com/wikiHow:Merge-Policy
treats some of these titles as being distinct enough to not be interchangeable. Yes, there could be possibility if you merged Really Treat Women to Treat a Woman (didn’t already see Anna’s advice up top, I perused right past it at first (Sorry @Anna
)), but outside of that, I don’t see much possibility of merging much of this information as these are all separate “scenarios” (could even explain the situation better). Girls and women are not interchangeable, one is the younger form of the other. If you see some helpful content, as long as you leave the information in the original, its okay to add the missing information yourself to the other.
