A few weeks ago, I looked through a list of articles I had started that needed screenshots. However, this one came to my attention. It’s needs some major editing done to it, first. Although I began this article with a much older (now close to defunct) version of the software, it really should be updated. I had purchased a few weeks ago the newest version for my Windows 8 PC and installed it (without further adieu). I’m unwilling to uninstall to make the adjustments, and trying to install the program on my Windows Vista PC is impossible to do (since Vista is unsupported for this version of Acrobat). It needs some care to help it along. Can someone please help adjust to fit the newest version of the Acrobat installer? If you can, can you add the screenshots to it after the adjustment has been made? Thank you in advance. If you can’t, thank you anyways for trying. http://www.wikihow.com/Install-Adobe-Acrobat
Hi @Byankno1
, I just tried to open the article and I got “Oops! Server is down”. Before that I could not even open Editor for this article. I’ll try to follow up and try to add the screenshots. … Don’t know how long the “down” problem is gonna last though. I am back, editing… tried 3 different images to add from Flickr, no luck. I either can not insert, or in another case get a blank “Add Image” screen.
Sorry, Chris, I really tried. Apparently wH’s server IS down.

Thanks guys - the engineers are working on it! I’m back up now, so hopefully you guys are too, but if there’s some slowness still, please hang in there while they fix it
@laura7491
thanks for helping out with the article, whatever edit you can get out. It needs several more steps, and should really be dealing with either x or xi, and dont get fooled into Acrobat Reader.
@Byankno1
, no problem … I can’t seem to accomplish much at all - get rejected by server. I’ll look into your article when the server is up again.
@Byankno1
, forgive me pls but I am not sure what you meant by “x” or “xi”. I’ll do my best there if server allows. Don’t worry. Editing - NEVER MIND ABOUT my “x” and “xi” question. I GOT IT.
@Byankno1
I added a few images from Flickr and , a couple more steps at the end. I don’t think there more steps needed in the middle. It’s pretty straight forward. Hope you like what I did, Chris.
Although the steps you added hit some of the mark, the photos didn’t meet or even come close to the mark, so I had to remove the photos.\ Like I warned you, Acrobat 8 (which is what was shown in the one photo) is a bit defunct. X and XI as you asked, refer to the program’s version numbers (in Roman numeral form, which is what Adobe now refers to them by). And what is this about sticking a disk into a drive, and the photo looked like the drive was flipped over, not showing the disc in the drive? I’m still trying to figure that one out. The other thing I warned people is that it was Acrobat, not Adobe Reader which you so nicely added to your step additions, but I was able to correct that name too. Here’s the edit I had to make, though I know there still more work to be done to bring it up to good enough standards. http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Install-Adobe-Acrobat&diff=prev&oldid=13115812
By the way, compare the article as it stands now, to one I fixed up and added screenshots for (for another program): http://www.wikihow.com/Install-the-Skitch-for-Desktop-Program-on-a-Windows-PC
. You’ll see how I grouped them all together and explained each dialog box as they came up. Seeing this whole thing, seems to be showing me that you don’t have much (if any) experience installing this (non-free) PDF file enhancement program (not only can you create PDF’s but you can also work with PDF’s too). They have a trial version available, but the trial version doesn’t give people much time to look through the software and efficiently use it to the person’s good, so you might want to check it out. Adobe Reader can only VIEW and not be able to edit PDF files.
Ok. I was able to install the software on my PC(Windows Vista). Seems I can’t overestimate the information Adobe gave on their website. During the installation I wrote up (in pen) the elaboration steps and screenshotted along the way. I still need to update the article with these new steps, and take care of marking them up. There’s informatin the software prefilled into some of the blanks that shouldn’t be seen (one of which includes a person’s full name). The other screenshots I need to markup to show what to click and when (etc.) I’ll hope to have the fixed up article adjusted and published (along with it’s screenshots) by the end of this week.
Ok. Finished. Thanks for all the help everyone tried to give me. I really did appreciate it. http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Install-Adobe-Acrobat&diff=13597925&oldid=13115812
