The wikiHow team has been hard at work behind the scenes creating a beautiful new homepage that is likely to deploy this week, so I wanted to pop in and give you a sneak peek of what it will look like!

Currently, the homepage doesn’t really do a great job of orienting a newcomer to wikiHow, so the goal of the new homepage is to make it easy for someone who lands on the homepage to understand what’s on offer and what wikiHow is all about.

Although I don’t have a live example, I do have a full-page screenshot that you’re welcome to check out here: jmp.sh/Lo6xOVS

I think you’ll agree that it’s fresh, clean, vibrant and gives a great first impression; clearly showing off how special wikiHow is.

This new homepage will also bring us a step closer towards the responsive design rollout - it’s likely to follow soon after the new homepage goes live. As anyone who’s been with us through a big update knows, the responsive update could be a bit bumpy, with some bugs and quirks to work through along the way, but your help and understanding will be paramount as we work through it all and come out the other side even better!

Here’s to exciting updates and improvements for wikiHow!

I am excited about the fresh homepage and the upcoming rollout!

I am sure both will be awesome and really can’t wait.

I for one love the new homepage design!

I’m kind of meh on this, but that’s probably just because I don’t like big changes. I’m sure after some initial dislike, I’ll get used to it:stuck_out_tongue:

One question, though - how does this affect Rising Stars? Are they no longer going to be broadcast on the homepage? I don’t see any there, just featured articles.

I agree with Alex on big changes! Also yeah, whats the deal with RS?

However, I like the design, and its time we have a fresh go at it!

Hey @Galactic-Radiance , thanks for your question. There will be space for 4 Rising Star articles that have been written within the last month - they will be in the Featured Articles section.

I’m looking forward to the new homepage! Just that I hadn’t yet taken a look at the screenshot because I need VPN to access it, but I’m sure it will be great!

l really liked the new homepage, ‘can’t wait’.

It’s really awesome! The top section with books with the search bar is so unique. Anyone who lands on the homepage will know easily where to type for other articles. The books look really colorful and inviting. I liked the entire layout with the featured articles list broken down with other sections that discusses what people are saying about wikiHow, wikiExperts, and then again there’s a search bar. This is definitely a huge leap towatds sucess. Well done wikiStaff, it is very smart and inclusive. A huge applause to the team:slight_smile:

Wow! That’s very cool! I can’t wait to see it in action :).

It looks good! I agree with @Galactic-Radiance about big changes, but I’m sure I’ll get used to the new layout soon:slight_smile:

EDIT: It is Galactic, not Galatic.

I like it, it’s cool. I especially like the “Trending Articles” bit.

Looks very professional - I agree that this is a great update. Nice that newcomers will be able to read a bit about wikiHow, too.

It’s really cool

I hear y’all about big changes, for sure! It can definitely take time to get used to something new, but just know that the changes are being made for all the right reasons, and updates help us stay current and fresh in an ever-changing online world!

Thanks for all the positive feedback too - now we wait in anticipation of the update! :D

So much better and way less clutter!!! PLEASE go with that @JayneG !! Thanks to the caring engineers:slight_smile:

After seeing the new design, I realized that the current homepage is generic and doesn’t really tell readers much about our mission! My favorite aspect is the Expert Articles section and the stats on our articles that give a positive message to our readers. I wish I’d seen this on our old, boring home pages. It needs a real update!

@JayneG Will there be an update on the mobile site?

The trending tab is interesting! What about the page load time? Improved?

Cool, yet it looks pretty complicated.

Good luck!!!
