My therapist asked me to think of 1 or 2 words that mean something to me and that could make for new year resolutions, and once I thought of said word(s) to share the meaning with someone I trust - the first people I thought of were you guys! So I decided to make this topic to share the idea with othersP.S. This doesn’t mean I’m back from my break/ retirement/ whatever this is

Here’s the word I chose;Society.

Meaning

I chose this word for two reasons;
The first is that I want to be more social in the coming year.The second is a little deeper,
I want to be able to trust society again. People seem to have become worse and worse over the years, and I want to be able to go to the gym or the mall without worrying what might happen.

I invite you to share your words here!(Also, if you have any other resolutions feel free to share those as well!)

Lol tbh mine would probably also be society. But if I were to think of my own it would be “ optimism” bc I’m usually pretty pessimistic about the future and society itself. And about my own life too.

Sometimes I think I’ll never get out of a rut (like right now) but that’s not true since time always goes on, and whatever is bothering us will eventually fade away or leave us. Like how finals will be over at the end of next week, and I’ll stop being needed to do stuff I don’t want to do, and how I don’t always have to listen to my parents and their ideals.
I just hate how it takes forever for that to happen though. I would have to go to college to leave my parents or be financially independent, or else the cycle is still going to continue.:unamused::tired_face:
And all of that has to take a few years. I know, I would miss my parents a lot at first, but I could visit them any time.

I’m not sure what my one word would be just yet, but I do think it would either be iffy or productive , depending on what I can get done leading up to the New Year with continuance next year.

My New Year’s Resolution in one word is a little bit complicated, because no matter how hard I try, I won’t be able to fulfill it, and neither could anybody else in the world. My word is perfect. Because everyone knows the saying “Nobody is perfect.” And it’s true. Someone could have straight A’s– 100’s, even!– and they would still have flaws in other things. And while someone may seem like they have perfect grades, perfect looks, and a perfect life, they could always have something wrong that no one knows about.

But while saying all that, everyone still tries to be perfect. Everyone knows that nobody can be perfect, and yet they still try to be perfect. People want to be perfect. They want to have perfect grades, they want to look perfect, they want to feel perfect. And “perfect” makes them try harder and harder and harder until they reach their goals. Like as for me. My grades have been kind of ugh lately, and I spend so much time on my makeup, hair and outfit to find the “perfect” match. But perfect doesn’t exist. Nobody is perfect. But I think my goal for 2025 is to push myself harder and harder, better grades, better me, better life. That way, when my goals have been accomplished, I will be what I wanted to be– even though my original goal was to be perfect.

And the thought of being perfect just motivates people so much to do better, try new things, and while it’s kind of sad that no one can be perfect, everyone tries, and you guys don’t even know how much it truly, truly benefits people.“Perfect.”

(edit: oh god i feel really good writing all that)

Exactly!:+1:t2:Nice one!

Mine would probably be “Music”. I want to focus more on my music, as next year, the senior division of my orchestra are going to travel to NY to perform, and I really wanna go, but I’m in the junior division. I also have gotten accepted into the choir that is part of the orchestra, but since I’m in junior orchestra, I can’t join senior choir. So, i’m working on my music!
