I looked at the “friendly templates” list and I could not find “Have a nice weekend”. Do we have one? If so, pls what is template? If not, can you guys pls add it on? Thanks! ~~ Laura.

If you just want to say it, why not just type it out?

Yup, I agree. Its a pretty quick note to write out, and I think it loses a bit of its meaning and sorts when you’re just pushing out a generic message.

Well, I would like to add an image to it.:slight_smile:Why do we have an image for “hug”, “kindness”, and don’t have one for “weekend”? It’s a very popular wish.

Hi Laura, Let’s start with the reason your requested template does not yet exist: No one has thought of it up til now. Now that you’ve thought of it? You can make it. http://www.wikihow.com/Create-a-wikiHow-Template What you are asking is a bit more complex than you might guess. It’s do-able though… and if I can learn it, so can you. (wide smile) When I made some templates a few years ago… I was pretty lazy. (and afraid of making a huge mess!) I opened a current template, copied everything, and saved a copy of it in a personal sandbox. I then proceeded to adjust it incrementally. I changed the picture, then the border colors… then the border width… then the message… until I was happy with it. I still don’t know enough wikimarkup to create one from scratch, but that was at least one way I could manage to customize a template for my own use. To create a personal sandbox (which, by the way, is something I don’t normally recommend. Usually http://www.wikihow.com/Sandbox is sufficient. It’s only when you want to make and keep a personalized template that this is actually worthwhile.) Navigate to your personal userpage. In the URL bar at the top of the page, type a forward slash (/) at the end of your username and then type the name you want to use for the template. Make the name short, no spaces, easy to remember. Hit “enter” and you’ll be on a brand new wikihow page that is “within” or “attached to” or “under” your personal user page. Sometimes editors will refer to this as editing “In my userspace”. For example, I made one for commercial users… giving them links to two articles about how to publicize themselves on wikiHow. I named it “user:loiswade42/nofollow” because I wrote a message telling them that on wikihow their links don’t get followed. You can link to it and poke around if you like… just please don’t make any changes to it. (Open it to copy/paste the content, but don’t save your changes. Thanks! ) http://www.wikihow.com/User:Loiswade42/nofollow If you want to copy paste code from one with a picture in it? You can use my http://www.wikihow.com/User:Loiswade42/CM Christmas one. (Again, copy/paste, but please don’t save any changes to the template.) I then edited that page… copy/pasted the code from another template into it… and started tweaking the content. Basically? Don’t delete any non - text stuff. If it’s between brackets? It’s code for the template. Instead, you can adjust the number values and text between those brackets to suit your needs. I hit the “preview” button a lot to see what the changes looked like. That saved the patrollers seeing a couple dozen different versions of my template before I was done with it… and probably avoided a potential problem of them inadvertently rolling back some of my changes if they didn’t understand what I was trying to do. Try these out first… http://www.wikihow.com/wikiHow:Editing-Basics Then you can branch out into changing your colors (color codes here are shown on the Hexadecimal color chart… you can one here… http://html-color-codes.com/ ) Once your template is the way you want it, you can post it on a talk page by typing {{user:YourNameHere/YourTemplateName}} and then clicking “post message”. For example? My no follow template? is typed: {{user:loiswade42/nofollow}} A word of warning: If you use the template a lot… and you later decide to make changes to it? Those changes will display on EVERY page you have posted the template on. In other words, it’s not personally customizeable to each individual you post for. If your message is as short as “Have a nice weekend”… perhaps now you can understand why it may just be simpler to type the sentence than to create a template. Good luck!

@Lois , thank you for your response… a stupid question here since I am ignorant on this… ▒ Do you have to create the template’s image yourself, or you can get it from the Internet?? ▒ I am not sure where even start from… LOL I guess you are a lot more technical than I am. I can understand now why it was not done - it seems pretty complex.

You have to use a freely licensed image… no copyright pictures here please. http://www.wikihow.com/Import-Freely-Licensed-Images-Into-wikiHow

OK, I got it, Lois. Thanks!! :))
