I wouldn’t mind being user of the month (even though nobody ever voted for me as class president it would still be cool!).

Please remember to place a {{Wum}} on users’ talk pages once you nominate them, and remember to vote starting May 18th, but not before then.

There was something like this a while ago and it got phased out. I think it was too hard to sustain. I like the system we have now of featuring people on the Meet a Community Member page instead or giving out Barnstars (which anyone can do).

I shouldn’t say “don’t do it”, but I suggest that @WikiRicardo considers what will happen to the people who don’t win. You don’t want them to get discouraged…

I am just wondering - how many people actually read the entire WUM page? From what I can see, not very many people. I had a bunch of users voting when the status said nominating, so I had to start voting and end nomination early. The WUM page says everything you need to know about WUM. Also, I had people nominating users but not putting the {{Wum}} template on the user’s page. Please completely read the WUM page and send me a question via my talk page if you have any further questions.

I’m really interested in in this - why is it the person’s user page without permission? Why not have it all on their talk page?

This is different than barnstars because instead of counting your overall effort over time, WUM takes your effort from each month and awards you for it, making users strive to do their very best each month. And if they don’t get awarded, they will try even harder the next month (people who don’t win will get a special template).

@Isabelle Zita as stated on the WUM page, you may only vote once each month… You also cannnot vote for yourself.

Now I’m confused on this. Every single “nominee” is very well known for what they have done already - not each month. I’m curious as to why voting is starting already when the entire page was created 6 days ago.
