If you patrol an edit where a new author is removing a {{copyviobot|…}} tag there’s a good chance this needs rolling back. This sort of thing: http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Ford-Eyes-to-Export-Figo-to-50-Nations&diff=6717171&oldid=6717089 If the tag was removed following a rewrite it still wouldn’t hurt to keep the tag in place until a reviewing admin has had a peek.

True, but keep in mind if you see Dave removing it, and in the summary he says it’s not a copyvio, that edit can stay.

Yeah, when I see removed copyvio, it’s only Dave.

Dave is the copyvio reviewer, so yes, it’s natural to think, “Oh, okay… let’s mark this as patrolled since it came from him”. What he’s trying to tell the community is that if anyone sees new editors removing tags, roll it back. This naturally happens just because people disagree that their material is a copyvio, but it comes down to the “permission” - is it really their material or do they not like to see a long tag being placed on something they copied from?

Sometimes I remove them too…but Dave usually beats me to it:slight_smile:The important thing as a patroller is to remain vigilant to these things: Who is removing the template? An admin, or the author of the article? What does it say in the edit summary? A blank edit summary is usually a red flag.
