Hello. I noticed something looking at wH policy that I feel like needs to be addressed.
There seems to be no policy about sharing the personal information of another person, such as their full name, age, location, or other information. Could there be some way to confirm that any personal information you share on articles or on talk pages is your own or that the person in question has consented to their information being shared?
If any admins could contribute opinions and feedback, that would be awesome.
Thanks, @BoundlessElise

Hi Andrea,
To quote Douglas Adams… “A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.”
Or to quote Jesse Ventura… “You can’t legislate against stupidity”
We do, however, have several templates we can share with users who are erm… oversharing.
{{age}}{{safety}}
{{askpersonal}}
I feel that taking a more personal teaching/coaching approach is going to get everyone further in the long term than creating and “enforcing” a new rule.
Example:
Enforcing message:Policy here is that you behave safely, so stop sharing your personal information!
Teaching message:Hey, I notice you’re oversharing… you’d probably be wisest to avoid sharing your personal information on the internet because not everyone on the internet has your best interests at heart. Here’s a link to a couple of articles that may help you with this. (insert links to articles pertaining to the individual users’ issues)

Oh, okay. Thank you! (I was more referring to sharing faces, voices, and images, so I should have included that in the original post.)

I don’t think it’s a big deal unless people are sharing their precise location (I know that one of my uib’s have the state I live in), or someone else’s info.
