I’ve noticed loads of article save photos which don’t add anything to the article. They seem to be there just for the sake of having photos. Example: http://www.wikihow.com/Set-Two-Friends-Up-to-Meet What is the wH policy on this? Should they be kept anyway or not? Thanks

If you look at the lower right corner of the photos, you’ll see a “wikiHow” watermark. This indicates the photos were taken and uploaded by Wikivisual, a team of wikiHow staff that take step-by-step photos or draw illustrations for articles. As pointed out by a lot of people in the past, this system isn’t perfect as there will be instances of inaccurate pictures. If you notice anything wrong with a picture, it’s best that you provide feedback on http://www.wikihow.com/User_talk:Wikivisual so Anna can review it and better the system. If you’ve taken step-by-step pictures yourself and they happen to be replaced by Wikivisual, you are absolutely free to rollback those pictures if you feel the older ones are more suitable. If you feel like they don’t fit at all, feel free to remove them and provide feedback.

In my opinion, anything that does not add value to an article is bloat and usually detracts from the message. I, personally, do not hesitate to remove such content and ask that it be redone.

I also feel as if those should be removed. They don’t help anyone, and they don’t add anything to the article.

Agree these images aren’t particularly helpful - they’re of a style the team tends to avoid these days, but they’re over two years old from more experimental times. Bummer that the article is pretty stubby, too. I removed the photos and added a stub tag. Hopefully it’ll get expanded and then we can get some more specific, instructional images on it as well!

Thanks for your feedback! Good to know.

I see a lot of images that don’t add anything to articles, but the reason that they are on there is to help the article look more professional and more pleasing to the eye. For that reason I support them. What really bugs me is when pictures are used to hide a stub.

Please refrain from bumping discussions.
