I was boosting and spotted an article called “Get and Hatch Eggs in Pokemon Go”, when I know we already have that. I clicked the article and looked in the Merge tab - but the article we have wasn’t listed. I ended up manually adding the merge tag, but decided to investigate it further.
I ran a general search for Pokémon GO, and what should have pulled up at least thirteen other articles only pulled up three that were related to Pokémon GO specifically. The ones that showed up from searching the terms “pokemon go” were (and yes, I checked back a few pages but I didn’t see anything else):
This really worries me, because there are ten other articles that I know
are published, but aren’t showing up in search results. We’ve gotten several duplicates already, and my guess is because the articles aren’t showing up in the search system, people don’t realize we already have the articles on that since the merge/“is this already created” system runs on a search for similar terms, and are creating duplicates. And outside of creating duplicates, if people can’t find the articles, they can’t read
them. Most people do not want to go on a link-trail and search for articles in the Related wikiHows if they assume we don’t have it.
I was wondering if this was related to the user reviews, but Battle Friends in Pokémon GO isn’t user-reviewed, while there are at least three other articles that do
have the user review stamp that aren’t showing up. I know it’s normal for there to be a discrepancy in the time between an article’s promotion and the time it actually shows up in a search, but with the popularity of Pokémon GO and the amount of time the search has had to refresh, I’m thinking we have a bug that’s keeping articles from showing up.
Can somebody kick the search system so that the articles do
show up, or something?
Likely just another case of the system not liking accents.
^ That doesn’t make sense, because there are accented titles coming up in the search results. I don’t see why it would affect some titles but not others if the accents were the problem.
Or maybe wikiHow is getting annoyed with Pokemon GO as well XD
That’s a really strange bug =/ I was thinking the same as Daniel but why is working for other accent articles?

I don’t think there’s a bug at play here - user reviews don’t have an impact here, and the accent issue was fixed a while back (and only affected how the titles looked, not whether they were there). This is just the usual period of time it takes for new articles to show up in our main search. That indexing can take between a few days and weeks - that’s normal.
In the meantime, you can usually find all the article options on the Special:Search
page, and the main search will follow soon. Don’t worry - I’m sure the rest will get there
@Anna
, if that’s the case, then why do some articles take longer to show up than others? Does it rely on any factors like score or anything? Or is it just kind of a “you can go through, but YOU must be STUCK IN LIMBO” thing? :s

It’s definitely not related to score - it just varies from title to title; of course, topics written earlier will probably get indexed earlier, too, but there isn’t a set schedule for it. The indexing process is driven by the search engine service we use for our main search, and it just takes time for their system to grab all our new titles. But again, they should all get there soon - don’t worry

I looped back to this and it looks like the articles are showing up in search now - hurrah!
