@busbyhead I found a problem with the tour. I had a small talk with @Krystle about it and she said to tag you in the problem, since you were the one that created it. Anywho. The problem I’m experiencing is this: If you go through the tour and are clicking the “Next” button, take a look at the directions the over-line on top of the Next button is facing. The graphic button is facing right, but the overline after clicking faces left. You can see an example of the button in this screenshot: http://screencast.com/t/HNxgGXbABj3T This isn’t happening on the “Previous” button on the last page, but is doing this for all other “Next” buttons that were made available by you.

Hmm…I didn’t see what was in the screenshot. What OS/Browser are you using? And if you take the tour multiple times, do you see the glitch over and over again? Thanks!:slight_smile:

If you’ve ever taken the new tour you’ll see many “Next” buttons over the course of the pages. Pretty, aren’t they? But the problem is shown when click the button. The direction of the arrow is pointing the opposite direction as it should point(to come closer to matching the graphical overlying button). Although I’ve used IE to create it, it has happened on every browser I operate from FF to browser on my iPod touch, to even the browser on Android phone.

Same. I can’t find a problem in any of the Next buttons. I’m on Chrome. Maybe it is an issue with some specific browser?

I’ll go a little more in depth. But I’ve seen the same problem on all the browsers I use. I do most of my browsing with Internet Explorer 9, some of my browsing with Mozilla Firefox(most current one-not sure of #) , and even both mobile browsers on The full-site wikihow on Android(Gingerbread OS) and iphone(Safari-ios6).

To explain:you need to try this yourself. 1. Go to a page of the tour that has a “next” button. 2. Look at button" pretty cool. It’s pointing the right way". 3. Watch this button carefully and click this button. What way does the outline face? (Sorry for the overuse of action verbs; it’s a tricky style to get rid of when you least need it)

Would a screencast explain this problem any better?

I’ve made the screencast. When I completed the screencast, I “circled” the problem with my mouse. You need to watch the graphics though. See how the graphic is correct at first, but after clicking-down the graphic is facing the incorrect way: http://screencast.com/t/WZL5PSXiPb

That is strange. Still working fine for me.

Hi @Byankno1 - just found this sorry, you tagged me with my old username! The bad news is, I can’t reproduce this. The good news is, I know why it’s happening. The other bad news is, I’m not sure if I can fix it. I’ll take a look now and give it a go. Thanks for letting me know - this is something I would never have picked up on, but is obviously quite annoying for anybody who can see those “shadows”:slight_smile:

OK - this is obviously something to do with the image maps applied to the arrows, which make them clickable… @Byankno1 , could you take a look at http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=wikiHow:Tour/What-Is-wikiHow&oldid=7928150 and tell me if the next arrows do the same thing there? Thanks.

Good thing/bad thing: Good thing: the buttons to the diff you gave me displays correctly on my iPod touch Bad thing: they aren’t even displayed when I use my IE browser on my computer. I tried logging in, but still no luck. Sub-bad thing: on iPod touch, it doesn’t show me the image maps for any buttons when tapped on.

Right OK - one more question for now - on the current tour, does the next button at the bottom of the page work correctly or is it the same as the one at the top? I have no idea why this isn’t working, as I just copied and pasted the image map code from the old tour… anyone with more wikiCode experience want to have a look? @KernelPone ?

When I went on earlier, it wasn’t displaying on my brother’s account on the same computer, running IE. Now, when I’m on my own account running IE, it’s displaying, but the image maps are still a problem.

@MartynP No promises that i’ll actually fix it, but i’ll take a look.:slight_smile:

@KernelPone any luck on this?

Oh noes!!! This got buried and I totally forgot about it! I’m on my phone right now, so I’ll have to look later. The image mapping is complex, and the bug seems to be appearing on a browser I don’t even use.

Well. I have no idea. I looked… etc. etc., but couldn’t figure it out. Sorry:frowning:

This adjustment seems to have fixed this arrow problem. They are now just links for buttons. http://forums.wikihow.com/discussion/6999/can-you-double-check-the-wikihow-tour If you would like to, you may close.
