I see many an article that I believe should have gotten an NFD of some type or another (and saved some time), but didn’t. Is it because you figure that the boosters can deal with it?? Really?
Reasons why a tag might not be added:1. The person doesn’t think it should be deleted. 2. The person is a new member and doesn’t know all of the reasons why an article might be deleted (for example, humor). That’s all of the reasons I can think of… besides “the person missed his/her morning cup of joe.”

I’d like to see some kind of implementation that the patrol button is removed if there’s some kind of “issue” with it (like an invisible copyedit bot) that forces the patroller to do something on the article.

This has been an issue for a long time, and with many patrollers - both new patrollers as well as the veterans who patrol thousands of edits a week. The issue of people blindly patrolling through new articles prompted this article 2-3 weeks ago: http://forums.wikihow.com/discussion/1947/please-review-new-articles-when-patrolling
Unfortunately, because many of our users don’t read the forum (or don’t read it thoroughly) I think the majority of the people who read that thread are users who already know what to do while patrolling…

If you come across an article that should’ve gotten an NFD when it first got patrolled, but didn’t, and (this is key) the article is still around and probably won’t get deleted, please send it to me. I will add it to the feature we’re working on where we plug in coaching examples into RC patrol. That will help train patrollers to look more carefully at new articles.
