I noticed an edit made on someone’s talk page who had been blocked years ago, but there were no previous revisions on their talk, so I had to go and Quick Edit it out. Problem is, when I went to go do that, the block log pushed the “Publish” button out of the frame, and no matter what I did I couldn’t get it to stay in the frame so I could press it. I can’t get that edit to appear on the mobile version of wikiHow (which is pulling up edits that have already been patrolled days prior), so there’s nothing I can do on the mobile site to get rid of the message.
Is it possible this could be looked into? For the record, I was using an iPhone 6 at the time.

Sorry, I’m having trouble understanding what you mean - my bad. Can you show me a screenshot?

Oh, it’s probably worth noting that, when it comes to space on the screen, the desktop site is never really at its best when viewed from a mobile device - that’s a hard thing to fix. If you’re trying to use a desktop site feature like Quick Edit, you’re probably best off accessing it from a desktop/laptop computer, not a small-screened device like an iPhone :/
Sorry 'bout that - looking back on it, the wording is confusing! What I mean is that the Quick Edit tool gets stuck in a certain position, and trying to scroll just results in it “snapping” back up to the block log. I’ll post a screenshot in a few minutes.
@Anna
, if the desktop site isn’t at its best, then can a report at least be filed for the RC Patrol showing maybe only five edits that have been patrolled days prior? It’s really hard to patrol recent changes when the changes aren’t actually recent and I’m getting only a few edits in the queue before it claims it’s all out of changes to patrol, even when the desktop site shows that there are many many more than just five or ten. :s
Editing to add in the image:
The tool gets stuck there, and I can’t scroll down to get to the Publish button - it just springs right back up to the block log.

Thanks- the screenshot helps! I can do a bit of digging around next week to try to see what cases that happens in. There are a couple factors to keep in mind that’d probably affect prioritization here, though: one is that the desktop tools are really only optimized for desktop use (which luckily allow some smoother scrolling!), so if it’s specific to mobile devices, we might have to live with it. The workaround would be to log onto a desktop device or skip edits that don’t work well on the mobile screen. The other factor is that this scenario - the need to quick edit a blocked person’s talk page - is pretty rare in itself, so this probably doesn’t come up super often. The RCP code is very finicky and something we don’t really want to mess with (read: accidentally break!) unless it’s for a bug that’s really affecting efficiency, quality, and experience in a biiiiig way. That doesn’t mean we wouldn’t ideally fix smaller display type issues, but I just want to be honest with you about the factors that go into deciding whether to try to fix or live with a given issue, particularly if it stems from using a tool outside of its intended device (a desktop computer). It’s not always a simple fix or a straight-forward decision
For the other question you touched on - the reason mobile/‘lite’ RC shows fewer patrols than the full desktop version is that it only tackles talk messages, tips, and spellchecker edits. That was by design because of the constraints of mobile device size; it’s just super tricky to try to show other kinds of edits and full diffs on mobile. Maybe the engineers will figure out a better way down the line, though! Anywho, thanks for sharing the screenshot, and I will tinker around some more with Quick Note during the week to try to get a better idea of how widespread this issue might be and whether it’s something that works out okay on desktop. I appreciate your letting us know it held you up!
Thanks for letting me know, @Anna
. I’m not insisting on it getting fixed immediately or anything - just thought it should be noted.
