I have been voting on NFD articles, and I have my settings set to display all the articles that are NFDs, but I keep reaching the end of the queue, and when I check on the Community Dashboard, it says it still has hundreds of NFDs in the queue. Is there some mechanic of this I don’t know about, or is this a glitch? Thanks!

Hey @Neon-Heart - the “all” category is actually purposefully separate from the “dups” nominations; so if you go to Options and select “dups,” you’ll see the rest. This was just done by design because some voters less familiar with the intricacies of the merge policy didn’t necessarily want to vote on those but did want to see everything else. So to get through the whole lot, switch over to dups and you’ll see the rest:slight_smile:

i think ‘NFD’ is more often used as a weapon/power tool here anyway, and i would love to see NFD dropped entirely. Considering the number of NFDs that have gone on to become FAs alone makes arbitrary deletion of articles–at least ones started in good faith –a borderline crime, in my opinion anyway, and contrary to wH’s stated creedo. I’ve had a few articles in progress deleted, I’m sure, because of personality or other issues; terms not understood, etc. For instance, why would wH ever want to delete an article titled_How to Remember Pre Self Consciousness_?

“Nice” hijack of the topic there Bbyrd… Unfortunately, grumbling about the NFD process will not make the topic of Pre Self Consciousness any more believable, mainstream, or acceptable to the wikiHow community at large. A better option would be to write a concise “how to” on the topic with several mainstream references to back up the instructions. (good luck!) @Neon Heart and @Krystle Thanks for the info. I didn’t realize that was why my NFD list always seemed shorter than the backlog before.

ya, i just didn’t think it rated a new thread at this point–i just saw ‘NFD,’ figured i’d plug it here. As far as the example goes, i have no interest in publishing it herenow, but ty. and ps, i picked a bad example, but i just didn’t know of a better one. my point is that many articles written in good faith, that can’t possibly offend, are NFDed in ignorance, as though wH server space were at a premium or something. Pre Self just came to mind there as it had been published all of 5 minutes before getting an NFD tag, and ticking me off to the point that i no longer even wanted to come here to work on it; and i understand the tag, imagine the effect on someone who hasn’t really grasped it yet. An alternative and less confrontational method might be considered, is my whole point here, at least perhaps for less frivolous cases…ok, or maybe not @Loiswade42 peace
