I agree with the merging of my article into How to Have a Great Year in Eighth Grade (with Pictures) - wikiHow but I think this article is now really long.

Like, there’s 8 parts, with each being detailed. I don’t think readers want to read an article that takes way longer than expected for them to read. Now that my original article + this one is now combined into one article, it makes the info easier to access. But, the article becomes long-winded and difficult to read, especially if you’re short on time or if you’re slow at reading.

Besides, some of the content in the article is pretty generic, as I’ve seen with articles for other grade levels. They frequently say, “Make friends!”, “Study for tests”, or “Have fun!”, which can be applied to pretty much every other grade level, from elementary school to high school. The only info that actually tailors to 8th grade would probably be the “Make new friends” part (as some kids are new in 8th grade and don’t make friends as easy since people have their friends from previous grade levels that they’re already accustomed to), “Fight against peer pressure” bullet point, “Plan fun events” (as the end of middle school is when you earn more independence), and “Experiment with your personal style” (as the beginnings and ends of grade levels are usually when people start to experiment and change".

What should we do with this article (and other articles similar to this one)? I also put a discussion post onto the article’s discussion page to discuss about this. Could we take some of the generic content out to make the article shorter? Or would we change the title of the article, or do something else? I’m not sure on how to fix this.

I was the one that merged your topic into this target, as it qualified under our Merge Policy to be merged - but I’m sorry that it’s now really long!

There’s really nothing that you can do because readers like to read facts from one article. It’s got the popular page notice on the Move page, so it’s not something we can change the title to, and if you were to remove generic facts without adding other more clarified facts in their place, there’d be reverted changes.

Have you tried actually adding some of this information to the page?

Remember, readers can also skim through the article. I know if I encounter an article as a reader, my first read is just a skim to see what I need to learn.
