I am posing this question in the Village pump because everyone has something they love about the community.

I love the wikiHow community.  The community is diverse, we become familiar with each other quickly, and we are all working for one mission.  Whether if it is @Anna taking a joke I wrote on her talk page or discussing a new feature, @Oddyasheck becoming a booster, @Alabaster , @Christy17 and @R2_d2000 posting in the forum games, , and much more, we all love the casual-formal wikiHow experience.  Everyone, regardless of wikiAge, who contributes to this community gets something out of it (except for the 1% that is so bored that they vandalize wikiHow articles, but let’s ignore them).

Now that I went, what is one thing that you love about the wikiHow community?

I love the community members! They’re all so incredibly supportive. They are all so involved in the mission, and it’s nice to work together to achieve a common goal!

Thanks for mentioning me:wink:

@Oddyasheck you’re welcome. :slight_smile:

Well… I love many things. Excuse me if I ramble on and on.

I love the fact that wikiHow doesn’t allow cussing. It helps me; as I’ve always had trouble with cussing ever since I was 9 (I think) because I visited a website. It helps me resist the urge to cuss. I also love the fact that no matter who you are, what you believe in, or what makes you different, we still love each other, like a family. That’s paradise in my opinion, I like that the community is accepting. I also love contributing in general; from fixing a minor edit to rolling back obvious vandalism in Recent Changes Patrol. I really also love the design of wikiHow; it looks amazing! I also like the variety of wikiHow. Even though wikiHow doesn’t have as many articles as, say, Wikipedia does, wikiHow has much better quality articles. Then, there’s the forums, where there’s just general fun to go around. Whenever I’m on the forums, be sure to expect me to laugh at least once! I also really like the fact that we assume good faith. It’s a good thing to do; I don’t like it when someone concludes I was trying to be mean without analyzing the situation. Because of this, assuming good faith just brings my, and many other people’s mood up. wikiHow is just a good website! No denying that.

What I love about the community is… the community:smiley:

So many knowledgable, kind, and keen people eager to help out the mission and one another… I often say we’re the kindest community on the web, and I think it’s true!

Doesn’t hurt that y’all are a bunch of smarties with lots of how-to know-how, too, though.

10+ @Awesome-Aasim

Probs the people and just the feel of the site; family friendly and open

I like the inclusiveness of the community. I like that it’s not judgemental and no one shares about what they think about one contributor or another on a personal level, only what they think about their contributions. We don’t have to share anything about ourselves unless we want to. All we HAVE to give is our knowledge and editing skills.

Everything is AWESOME!! Everything is cool because we’re a team…

^lol

I know everyone’s already said this, but the wikiHow community spirit is what I really love about this site.

I’ve been on some other forums, and it’s upsetting how much bickering and mean stuff goes on. Needless to say, I didn’t stay long on those.

The wikiHow community is so welcoming and helpful. It’s kind of like one big happy family!

Forums

Joshua has pretty much said everything I would say.:slight_smile:I’ll add that this platform with the freedom it offers, you get to relax, know yourself better, express and wait till you see how others react to your effort. This becomes a perfect environment for us to be better people, to polish our communication skills and also to control our temper, fear and or misunderstandings. Yeah, so there is a lot of scope for emotional and overall growth. Its upto us if we see it in the longer run and credit the site likewise instead of asking what do I get in the end. Thank you wikiHow. @AwesomeAasim May be you can share your experience here as compared to other sites, may be without taking their names, if you like.

@Vishshua yep.  Other wikis that I have edited were too serious, and because of my teenage immaturity, most of my edits to the first wiki I have ever edited were garbage.  We enjoy a casual-formal environment; the first wiki I edited ever was maybe too formal and I could not take their processes seriously.

wikiHow is the third wiki I have ever edited and it is probably the easiest to edit.

Thanks @AwesomeAasim for sharing. Wow, so I think the fate and the experience of editing on any wiki is directly linked to its policies. In our case it is assuming good faith. It sounds easy, however the haus and the community together have been living upto it since 14 yrs now.:slight_smile:Hurray.:slight_smile:And, may be your edits were not garbage. Those were your initial steps to a whole new world of wikis and editing. Your curiosity got you trying so many sites and the initial edits gave you the judgement of what is serious/ casual/ easy/ formal etc.

Yays to the wikiHaus and wikiCloud!

I love that everyone is serious for giving the answer.

-There’s always something new to figure out or learn.

-The people generally assume good faith.

-We help millions and millions of people all over the world.

-It’s more helpful and interesting than most available TV shows and other *coughs* “entertainment” options out there.

-It’s an excellent outlet for creativity and desire to help others.

I’m late once again, so sorry, but: This community is honestly, one of the most pure, not even close to toxic communities on the internet as far as I’ve seen. It has so much supportive, kind, and helpful people. There’s really no downsides to it.

I love that I can make friends easily. All these people are so nice.

I’m really late, sorry, since the post before me was 4 months ago I’m about 2-3 weeks new to wikiHow, and I already love it. One of my favorite things here is that when someone says something, they put a wiki before it, like wikiBreak or wikiAge. Lol, I find that so hilarious.

As everyone said, the community!!!

I also like helping other people out and improving articles.
