Hi guys, please take a look at this article. Do you also see that it’s really strange , or is it just me? http://www.wikihow.com/Get-Into-Copywriting
I am tempting to NFD it but I am not sure the reason. I did not format it yet though I know it “screams” to be. FYI - on January 6th the author removed the content of the page, but on the same day “Darkfrost” has reverted her edit and this is what we see in he end. What’s your opinion about this article?
Inn my opinion, the article seems to have many problems, but none fatal:
- needs copyediting
- not the highest quality
- needs formatting
- contains personal reference
I fixed some of those issues on a quick run through - http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Get-Into-Copywriting&diff=16312750&oldid=16312378
It might benefit from a title change to “Learn to Copywrite” or “Start Copywriting.” The article, potentially, go over the top and become a prime example of exemplary copyediting, but that would be a really bold edit. *edit to change copyediting to copywriting (and correct my oops)
I just took a quick glance at it and the second it finished loading I thought “oh boy. this will be interesting…” don’t slap your mother before reading this? yeah gonna take a closer look…
hmmmmm…I am not a very experienced editor so I will leave this to you guys.
@Alabaster
, that’s what I thought, really - low quality. I was not concerned about about formatting or copyediting… I sensed that this article was not a good quality article. Sometimes if an article is not extended we NFD it due to low quality.
Edit conflict with what? I don’t get it. It’s a low quality article, and needs a big work.
She put the tag on for a reason. She is working on the article right now.
I think you are mistaken, @McDonalds1
: See this.
*McDonalds1 is correct in what he says.
It might still say “Edit conflict” despite the versions being the same. In my opinion, your argument is not valid.
I just tested my hypothesis and I was incorrect. Apparently, any edit
to the article while someone else has it open in edit mode will trigger the edit conflict warning.
I’m guessing you opened the sandbox and started to make an edit as Alabaster, and then made a test edit as Serendipitee. You then probably went to make your edit as Alabaster when you triggered the edit conflict warning.
I edited as Serendipitee on a live article I had open as Alabaster. Also, it won’t really be an edit conflict when @JurachiQueen
publishes, just an incorrect warning. I am very sure she will figure out what is going on, but I will drop her a message anyway. I might suggest, @McDonalds1
, that you coach newcomers about things on the main site directly on a talk page. Very few newcomers visit the forums and would not know to look at this thread if they did.
I was thinking that you did that.
The article will probably roll back to the previous version when she gets the edit conflict warning.
In such a case, we would probably give them a link to this thread.
It is better to coach them directly and factor in the feedback they have already received and also their contributions. A post in the forums for such things is not needed.
School keeps me busy but I will try to update the article by tomorrow afternoon.
@JirachiQueen
, if you are an author, then pls don’t forget to add “inuse” tag until you are done and then remove the tag. =)
