Help me!!! I had an article that I worked extremely hard on, called How To Cope With Your Mother’s Lectures (sorry, I don’t know how to make links) and I tried to make an attention grabbing intro. It was a really fun introduction too. But someone went in and changed it to something boring and not at all fun! And they didn’t stop there. They went in and changed a bunch of my other attempts at grabbing attention. I got SOOOOOOO mad! So why are they allowed to?
wikiHow is a collaborative wiki that anyone is allowed to edit. Users are allowed to edit any article submitted on the site, barring ones that have been protected from editing by an administrator. If you’d like to work on your article by yourself, I would suggest adding the {{inuse}} template on your article.
There’s nothing wrong with a little humor or energy, but it’s preferred by the majority of wikiHow that articles sound professional and are neutral in tone. There’s also certain rules of etiquette that you can follow such as not using multiple exclamation marks, making unnecessary capitalization, etc. Here’s some examples of what not
to do: CapitalizationWhen your computer gets slow, it’s PRETTY ANNOYING. These steps show you how to speed up your machine to maximum performance. Exclamation MarksSlow computers are really annoying!!! Is there a way to fix them? By following this guide, you can speed up your computer for free.

Also, you used first person language. We encourage the instructions to go more towards the reader, and not yourself. That is why your article was edited to be “boring”, like you think. They tried to make it professional, and also make it easier to follow the instructions, which is why using first person language is a violation of our guidelines. You should appreciate the work we’ve done on your article. We’re trying to improve it, more than make it boring, so that it meets our standards. Here are the changes
to your article so that you can get an example of it getting improved to meet our standards. Also, you make hyperlinks by using < a href = “URL to that page here” > hypertext you want < / a > (without the spaces). Or, you can simply copy and paste a URL, and it will show up in your post as a link.

Whenever I see personal references in articles, I change it to we, as in wikiHow.
