Hi Everyone,

This is quiet a longshot but I have a brief proposal. As you are aware, there are so many articles from all over the world about so many different things on Wikihow and I personally think that at the convenience of our readers and editors, we should have a ‘Wiki-Dictionary.’

The idea is that there is a little featured box on the side of an article or page which has a search bar where we can look up a word to find a definition specially written by our authors here at wikihow. This way terms used more specifically in individual countries could then be understood by everyone without the inconvenience of having to go on another browser to look it up!

This is just a little idea and I don’t know how popular but I do strongly believe this idea would be beneficial to Wikihow. I would be more than happy to write a formal proposal upon request.

@Anna

Would you know who to direct this to or do you have any input or opinion in how realistic the idea is?

Excuse me @Byankno1 , I am new and didn’t realise. Glad to see this because I have come across a few words that I need to look up.

I appreciate your help.

Byankno1’s suggestion there is your best resource for wiki-specific terminology. When it comes to the idea of a broader wiki dictionary, that’s probably outside the scope of our mission… plus, there’s already one out there! Check out this site if you want to get involved with writing definitions:  https://www.wiktionary.org/ :slight_smile:

Sorry for not checking back. I get busy, and with some email problems for my notifications, I don’t get notified even though the emails are being sent. I was also using my phone when I sent that link, hence the shortness of the message - sorry.

Great that you found the help you need with it @Zac6493
