Some sad wikiHow news to report: After engineering at wikiHow from the start, Travis has decided to leave wikiHow. This forum post would go on for 100 pages, if I listed all the things Travis has done for wikiHow, so I’ll just say this: wikiHow simply wouldn’t be wikiHow if Travis hadn’t built us up from the start. He will be sorely missed. I hope you can join me in wishing Travis farewell and thanking him for his tremendous contributions to our wiki. Travis doesn’t have immediate plans for his next project. He will probably spend the next few months reading, relaxing, and spending time with his family while he plots his next move. I’ll look forward to following his success on his next venture. For those who don’t know Travis, you can find his user page here: http://www.wikihow.com/User:Tderouin
He engineered the entire site from the beginning. If you don’t miss him yet, you will miss him when you are looking for your next quick bug fix. Or next feature request? Or…I’ll stop here. Thank you Travis for all you have done for wikiHow. Your contributions here will never be forgotten.
:`( Thank you Travis; if it wasn’t for you, wikiHow wouldn’t be here. Thanks for fixing bugs and setting up bots and scripts. Good luck. I wish I knew HTML

Wow… my heart just dropped
It’s been a hellacious ride being a part of wikiHow with him. He’s helped out with glitches, bugs, and updates sooooooooooooooooo much… words can’t even come out to make a short post. I can clearly remember a time in IRC where the site went down in the middle of the night and a few of us were going into a frenzy attempting to get Travis and Jack’s attention about it. It’s hard to say farewell to such a more than awesome person. Best wishes and endeavors in the future dude!

Travis, I haven’t been here since the beginning of time, but by all accounts, you sure have. Even since I’ve gotten here, you’ve helped out the site (requests, features, bugs, etc.) so much, and we’re grateful to have you doing all this. You truly kept the site running from Day One. The main page has done quite well for a first article, I’d say! Best of luck & fun on where you stray from wikiHow. Thanks! ~Cece
Thank you for your incredible work here on wikiHow, and good luck on your next venture. We’ll miss you!

Thanks for everything you’ve done for wikiHow, both as a site and community, over the years Travis!
Travis, all of wikiHow will miss you from the bottom of our hearts. Like Jack said, there’s no way to list all the incredible things you’ve helped wikiHow with. Good luck on wherever life takes you, and thank you so incredibly much for being one of the greatest wikiHowians wikiHow has ever seen. Goodbye.

Gosh, if he can afford to take a couple of months off to read, you must have been paying him too much…but in a serious light, I have seen his efforts, and know he was worth every penny and then some, so thanks, Travis, and don’t be a stranger!

Travis, You were one of the first wikiHowians I met in person, as well as one of the first wikiHowians to reach out to me. I enjoyed hanging out with you during Wikimania and Recent Changes Camp. I’ll miss your wiki-spiritedness, sense of humor, dedication to the wikiHow community and ability to work well under pressure. A lot of my favorite features that set wikiHow a part from other wikis were ones that you worked on and that have been carried onto other wikis (such as Find Free Photos). You were able to take MediaWiki and make several improvements that make wikiHow a much better editing experience than other wikis. wikiHow was very lucky to have you working here and I’ll miss seeing you around. I hope you you’ll stay in touch.

Something to add: Someone who will get up at 2:00am just to fix a bug or glitch is REAL
dedicated.
Travis, if “wikiHow” had a “T” in it, the T would be gone and there’d be a big gaping hole. Best of luck!
I agree.

We’ll miss you, and all the awesome work you did here! Have a great time with your family!
You did excellent work and must be very proud of everything you’ve done here. Impressive achievements of yours are displayed on these pages for the whole community’s benefit. You do not deserve a barnstar, you, along a few oldies here, deserve THE baddest barnstar mankind has ever known.
