Upon previous thought, I have articulated a new team idea. The team is called “wikiHow Investigators”. What is wikiHow Investigators?wikiHow Investigators is a team that investigates copyright infringements, vandals, ect before it goes to the admin notice board. This does not apply to everything that goes to the admin notice board. wikiHow Investigators only investigates claims that don’t have hard evidence, and would be hard to prove without. Can you give some examples of what wikiHow Investigators would do and an insight on how the system would work?Let’s say you found an article on wikiHow in which the text in the article seemed to match an article you had read elsewhere on the web. However, you don’t remember the exact location of the article or how you got there. If you reported it to the ANB, an admin would have to take the time to find the article themselves on the internet. But, wouldn’t it be easier for the admin to have the URL of the possibly copyrighted site? However, if you don’t have the URL, how would the admin get the URL? That’s where wikiHow Investigators steps in. Instead of reporting it directly to the ANB with no evidence, you would report it to wikiHow Investigators. You would put your claim in the proper category, along with a description of your claim that is as detailed as possible, and any possible evidence you already have. Then, a wikiHow Detective would edit the claim, and put {{Investigating}}, which would state that they are currently investigating the claim. The wD would then look for all possible leads and find as much hard evidence as they can. If they find hard evidence that supports that the claim is true, then they would remove it from wikiHow Investigators, place it on the ANB, and give you the template {{True}}, which just tells you that your claim was true. If after investigating, they find that your claim was false, they would remove the claim from wikiHow Investigators, and give you the template {{False}}. If after investigating, they come to no conclusion, they leave the claim on wikiHow Investigators, but edit it and replace their {{Investigating}} tag with {{Noconclusion|THEIRNAMEHERE}}. The claim is then open for another wD. If the second wD has the same results, the claim can be reviewed one last time. If the third one has no success, they remove the claim, place it in “History”, and give you {{Talk Noconclusion}}. How can I be a part of wikiHow Investigators? http://www.wikihow.com/wikiHow:Wikihow-Investigators To report a claim, just edit the “Claims” section, put your claim in the proper category, along with a description of your claim that is as detailed as possible, and any possible evidence you already have. To become a wikiHow Detective, follow the “Steps to Be a wD”, and use this post for reference. What is the aspect of this feeding trolls and vandals?Because wikiHow Investigators would deal with things other than Copyvios, such as possible Malicious Sockpuppets, I can see room for thought that this team would only feed trolls and vandals. I can assure you that this team would feed no more trolls than the ANB. A Quick Overview:wikiHow Investigators is not intended to replace the ANB nor copy it. It is intended to investigate claims and find hard evidence that don’t have much already before they are reported to the ANB. This would make it easier on the admins to review claims, since they would then have all of the evidence they need to make a decision.

Wat. That sounds like @TheMartian ’s ORCA team.:stuck_out_tongue:

@JKl1234 it is completely different.

@JKL1234 ^

He had extra powers in his idea. This idea doesn’t. This sounds like an okay idea…

@Readingirl His idea was on patrolling. This has nothing to do with patrolling.

Good point.

@TheMartian should take a look at this. He will tell you this is different.

This is more like being a detective, while TheMartian’s idea is more like being a police/patrol officer. The

If we can avoid putting article templates or giving people any kind of warning templates, it’s fine with me, although the title does seem to go against the whole “assume good faith” principle that this site is based on:slight_smile:Another way to do this would be to just start a forum thread in the collaboration corner where people could post whatever they are concerned about. This is how people have informally handled things in the past and it has been sufficient:slight_smile:

@Krystle I don’t think this has to do with assuming/not assuming good faith. If somebody has a legitimate concern, it should be investigated as such. The “Detective” can decide whether or not it is legitimate.

@Krystle don’t worry, no warning templates are involved, since wikiHow Suspicions doesn’t deal with anything, it merely investigates them and gives the info they find to the ANB, where it is delt with.

I see what Krystle is trying to say- “Suspicions” does sound like we’re not assuming good faith- rename:slight_smile:

@Rangers31 I changed it.

@WikiRicardo , could you please explain what they would do about malicious sockpuppets, which you mentioned above?

@AndrewG1999 They would investigate the claim to see if they really are a MS and then report it to the ANB if true. It’s for if the MS doesn’t use a similar username, but is suspectef that they are a MS.

Hmm, that seems a lot like a checkuser’s job. You might want to read the introduction here

You want to take on potential copyright violation investigations?

You really want to ask that? lol

I feel that the name is too vague, since there’s a lot on wikiHow that could be subject to investigation. How about wikiHow Copyright Investigators?
