Hi all,I just wanted to let you know that wikiHow will be read-only for around 30min sometime today for some engineering database maintenance.

This means that we won’t be able to make edits or use tools during that time, but the forums will likely still be functional.

I will update this post when it’s about to happen, but if you see a read-only notice when you try to edit, that’ll be why!:slight_smile:

Any plans to upgrade MediaWiki? wikiHow uses outdated MediaWiki 1.33, released almost 6 years ago and is no longer supported. MediaWiki 1.43 is the most recent version and even 1.39 is still supported.

Others can answer this better than I can, I’m sure, but wikiHow runs an enormous amount of custom features, tools, and scripts that would all need to be changed independently for an upgrade, and all that that entails (pre-launch testing, post-launch fixing, etc.) The upgrades tend to come every few years.
