As most of you guys know, I’m a big fan of sending talk page notes when I see someone doing something neat, kind, productive, or otherwise helpful around the wiki… but sometimes I think we should share those kudos more publically, too, and spread a little wikiLove further and wider… like, say, here in the forums.

So does anyone have someone they want to send a shout-out to? Maybe for ongoing help, big or bold edits, or even a teeny edit that just made a page much better or showed care and concern for our wonderful wiki?   Whether you want to send a general message or share a particular diff that caught your eye, recognize a fellow wikiHowian or their contribution(s) here and spread a little wikiLove:slight_smile:

I’ll post one in the comments… and then, probably come back for more later, too:stuck_out_tongue:

I’d like to give a shout-out to @Christy17 (even though I think she’s afk for the weekend so might not see this until next week - that’s okay!) for being an ever-diligent and conscientious patroller and editor, but more importantly, for doing it with a huge amount of friendliness and kindness. I get a big kick out of our almost daily notes to check in with each other… not only because I like hearing from her, but also because her talk page always has a lot of warmth on it, thanks in no small part to the similarly kind/friendly/helpful approach she takes all over the wiki. I really like reading the notes she gets back that mirror that same attitude in return to her:slight_smile:

Then I’d also like to give a shout-out to @Zodi for being my go-to helpful European lately, hahhaha. That might sound silly but there are a couple of areas where they’ve been offering really insightful and helpful input on European terminology and norms (in math, in measuring/converting, etc etc). Kudos for being so game to go down the rabbit hole of research and explanation to make sure our pages help a wide audience of people all over the world!

Another way to shout-out is just to share the diff, too:

@McDonalds1 - shout-out to you for fixing broken links, including actually hunting down the right pages where need be, instead of automatically removing them no matter what:  wikihow.com/index.php?title=Hold-a-Handstand-Longer&diff=26453478&oldid=26451194  - nicely done!

I would like to send you @Anna a shoutout for being so helpful. You are omnipotent (since you are always there whenever I log in and have something effective to say when I need it the most) and omniscient. I know I am being kind in my assessments but its true.:stuck_out_tongue:You are a wonderful community builder with all the right things to say no matter what the problem. You never sound tired and are always pushing the envelope to build this wiki into a monumental success. You are so amazing that I will take a teeny tiny liberty to call you a chocolate christmas tree who does not just serves the community and the mission but also is immensely sweet.

Haha well you’re def too kind, @Vishshua but I appreciate it, and will take that chocolate Christmas tree metaphor and hold it close… and now I’m tagging you to give a shout-out to someone else too :P  - you’re on the hook, lady!

Big shoutout from me to you, @Anna for all the great edits you make that make this place shine. You are a wonderful person and - much like those two barnstars I’ve given you over the years - show that you care about everything you work for here. Thank you.

Heh that’s v sweet and appreciated… but my main goal here is to *spread* the wikiLove so @Byankno1 , try a shout-out to someone else too so we can spread this net of kudos wide:smiley:

I have several shout outs to share (there’s no limit, right?)

I think I’ve given him public props before for all his help, but I’d like to give  @Galactic-Radiance  a big 'ol thanks for all his assistance behind the scenes to help us deliver a great new edition of The wikiHow Herald each month. Alex regularly contributes high quality material that’s featured in the Herald, and I couldn’t do it without him. For you, my friend, a cat:

My day is quite often brightened just a little when I see a friendly message from  @Vishshua , who oftentimes drops by just to wish me well and hope that I am having a great day. I always appreciate your kind words, and you bring such a positive energy to such an already awesome community of peeps! Similarly,  @Adelaide ’s cheery messages also bring a smile to my face (even though you’re staying very busy with school)!

For you two, how about a hug?

I’ll start to wrap it up now… I’m also always in awe at the amazing illustrations that  @MissLunaRose  creates and shares with the community. You’ve got some serious talent, and the community (readers and editors alike) are lucky that you share that talent with us all. :)

Looking forward to seeing more of these!

For now I will give a shoutout to everybody doing whatever they can to make this website even better! Shoutout to Anna for prompting shoutouts:wink:

I’m giving a shout out to all the tech people who work behind the scenes to keep wikiHow up and running.

@Anna You read my mind. Because I wanted to share more here.:slight_smile:I am glad my message brightens your day @Eric . Thank you for the adorable hug. ^=^ Some more wikiLove to @CaitlynnL who diligently works for wikiHow, answering questions maintaining a soft and a beautiful demeanor. @JustJoshua for helping other wikiHowians and spreading his wikiFriendly vibes with the community in his own ways. @XxVxX @Christy17 and @R2_d2000 for defending wikiHowians when there is spamming or abusive messages on talkpages. @Flickety , @SarahB and @Adelaide for being on wikiHow when they were, more active. I miss their presence and the impct they made on the site. @KrissyBear2450 who spreads wikiLove with us mainly through religious talks. @Twice for just being there and always making me smile. Lastly, the A team members, @Humanbeing and @Alabaster who transformed a joke article into this - https://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Stop-People-Killing-Spiders&diff=26467195&oldid=26458163 in just two days.

Fine. A few months ago, I sent some “wikiLove” to @R2_d2000 (in the form of barnstars) for their excellent local experience they added to all the “Visit” articles relating to the Walt Disney World properties, but I forgot all about mentioning the shout-out to @Donagan on their helpful research to the “Visit” articles relating to Disneyland’s properties. I wish their were more people around who’d be that helpful to help research the possibilities for some well fleshed-out articles to help add more advice in some areas that they gave, but for right now, it’s a job well-done!

LOVE reading these:smiley:

I really love hearing everyone’s reasons because they highlight just how many different ways everyone here helps each other out… the reasons you guys highlight aren’t always the exact same ones I would, and that just means the person in question is doing two (or likely many, many MORE) rad things!

Keep 'em coming as inspiration strikes or you see great edits or get a helping hand from someone.

Us right now:

Shoutout to @Alex the Cool for editing my article How to Turn a Dress Into a Shirt (although it’s probably going to get deleted anyway.). Also, shoutout to @Logang and @Madeline09 and @Christy17 for helping me with wikiHow Fourms and for being such good friends!

Awe thanks @Vishshua ! I have to echo what Eric said, and give my shoutout to @Vishshua . You just radiate positive energy, and your kindness towards this community is so lovely to see.

^100+

Shout-out to @Galactic-Radiance for tagging FAs so we can all have some fab articles on the home page in May (and every month!)

Shout out for Anna’s shout out to Alex, they’ve done so many of this I wasn’t sure it was okay to just approve them all. Shout out to ALL those with job titles on wikiHow, boosters, admins, gnomes, welcomers. You guys help me to chill here and just do the things I like doing. Shout out to Eric for the cat’s paws gif too, love it! ( @s left out on purpose, I don’t like to pester people.)

Shout-out to @Anna and @Vishshua for helping me out with wikihow stuff! Also to @Christy17 and @Kelly14 and @TheYoungWriter for being awesome friends!
