If you’re going to play as the Mythic brawler Max in Brawl Stars , you’ll need an outstanding build to match—and we’re here to help you put that build together. In Brawl Stars , a brawler build consists of a Gadget, Star Power, and two Gears, all of which come with extra abilities and buffs that make the brawler more effective in battle. Because Max relies heavily on speed, the best Max build enhances her mobility and survivability, allowing her to be the best she possibly can be. In this article, we’ll show you which choices you need to make to put together the perfect Max build (plus alternate builds to try, too).

A Brief Overview of the Best Max Build in Brawl Stars

For a great Max build in Brawl Stars , we recommend a build with the Phase Shifter (Gadget), Run N Gun (Star Power), Damage, and Shield (Gear). The Phase Shifter gives Max more mobility, while Run N Gun increases her damage output, and Damage and Shield give Max more survivability.

The Best Max Build in Brawl Stars

  1. 1
Best Gadget - Phase Shifter The Phase Shifter boosts Max’s mobility, granting a quick dash of 3.33 tiles and a temporary immunity shield to help Max get out of a dangerous spot fast (or get around obstacles without taking heat). Essentially, the Phase Shifter enhances Max’s versatility and ability to survive on the battlefield, making it an essential part of this build! [1]
    • Phase Shifter’s effects: Max dashes forward and becomes immune to all damage from enemies while dashing.
  2. 2
Best Star Power - Run N Gun When choosing a Star Power for Max, we recommend Run N Gun for the best build possible! Run N Gun increases Max’s reloading speed while she’s on the move, which plays into Max’s mobile playstyle, making her an even deadlier force on the battlefield (and even harder for enemies to stop).
    • Run N Gun’s effects: Max reloads faster while moving (with a 15.56 increase to reload speed moving at a normal speed).

Best Gear - Damage and Shield Now, it’s time to pick two Gear options for Max—and we recommend selecting Shield and Damage to create the best build. Shield gives Max some extra protection when her health is 100%, giving her time to get rid of threats at the beginning of a match so she can collect gems or balls. Damage boosts Max’s damage output at low health, improving her survivability. [2]
    • Shield’s effects: Gain an extra 900 Health as a consumable Shield. The shield regenerates in 10 seconds when at full health.
    • Damage’s effects: Deal 15% extra Damage when your Brawler is below 50% Health.

Is Max a good brawler in Brawl Stars ?

  1. Max is a strong A-tier Support class brawler. In other words, yes, she’s a good brawler, although she can be a little tricky to play if you’re new to the game. Max boasts an exceptionally fast movement of 820, and with her Super, that movement speed can increase to 1120. Then, with Max’s Hypercharge applied in addition to her Super, her total speed becomes 1317—one of the fastest in the game. Other major stats include: [3]
    • Main attack: Max shoots 4 projectiles, each of which deals 640 damage (2,560 total). This attack can also be quickly spammed to deal damage due to Max’s quick reloading speed.
    • Super: Max creates a 4-tile radius around her that boosts her movement speed by 300 units (as well as that of her team members). This lasts for 4 seconds.
    • Hypercharge: Unlimited Energy - Max throws an energy drink to each team member, increasing their movement speed and granting a 25% Super charge. Max also gets a 24% Speed buff, 25% Damage buff, and 5% Shield buff.

  1. Unlock Max via Starr Road in Brawl Stars . There are actually several different ways to unlock her—so opt for whichever one works best for you. Your options for unlocking Max are as follows: [4]
    • Unlock all of the Brawlers that come before Max in Starr Road and collect 1,900 credits.
    • Spend 349 gems in Starr Road to unlock Max instantly (you can get gems through Brawl Pass or Star Drops)
    • Get Max through Star Drops (along with Max’s Gadgets and Star Powers). This is entirely based on luck—you could unlock her this way, but there’s no guarantee.

Other Effective Max Builds in Brawl Stars

  1. 1
Phase Shifter, Super Charged, Shield, Speed While Run N Gun is generally the top choice for Max’s Star Power, some players argue that Super Charged is better! With Super Charged, Max can charge her Super while moving—which synergizes well with Max’s movement-based build. Then, the Speed Gear helps Max move 15% faster in bushes, further contributing to her overall mobility. [5]
    • Instead of Speed, you can also use a Shield and Damage Gear pairing with this build (which is the same gear pairing used in our “best build” recommendation).
    • Overall, you can decide for yourself whether Super Charged or Run N Gun is better for Max. Try both and see what you think!
  2. 2
Phase Shifter, Run N Gun, Health, Damage This build is very similar to our “best build” above; it simply swaps out the Shield Gear from above and replaces it with Health. This Gear recovers Health 50% more effectively—and since Max normally has a lower Health score, this can be super helpful for survivability.
  3. 3
Phase Shifter, Run N Gun, Shield, Health Here’s another build that’s very similar to the “best build” above; it just swaps the Damage Gear for Health. As we’ve already discussed, the Health Gear regenerates Health 50% more effectively; combined with Shield, this helps Max start a battle with more health and hold onto it as the fight continues.
  4. 4
Sneaky Sneakers, Super Charged, Shield, Damage Sneaky Sneakers definitely aren’t as effective as the Phase Shifter, but they can be decent, allowing Max to attack aggressively for a brief time without much risk (since she can just teleport away after). Try using them in Showdown (or similar situations) to defeat vulnerable enemies quickly and then escape! [6]
    • Sneaky Sneakers’ effects: Max blinks back to a place of her choosing after a 3.0-second delay, recovering any damage she received in the meantime.
