Dead Crone Rock is a location that exists in the world of Skyrim. It’s a tower made out of stones located southwest of the city of Markarth. Dead Crone Rock is mainly inhabited by Forsworns, a group of men considered to be rebels of Markarth. Dead Crone Rock plays significant roles on some quests (such as “Dungeon Delving”), but many find it hard to get to because it’s way out of the road. This wikiHow teaches you how to find Dead Crone Rock.

  1. Markarth is on the far west side of the map. It has an icon that resembles rams horns on a shield. Open your map and select Markarth, a pop-up screen will ask if you want to Fast Travel there. Select “Yes,” and you’ll instantly get to Markarth from wherever you were.
    • Once you get to Markarth, head out of the city through the main gate at the south. Right outside Markarth, you’ll see some stables. This will be your starting point.
    • If you have not been to Markarth, you will not be able to Fast Travel to it. Instead Fast Travel to the nearest location and them make your way to Markarth.
    • Alternatively, you can Fast Travel to Dushnikh Yal, Purewater Run, or Hag Rock Redoubt, if you've been to any of those locations. They are a little closer.
  2. Head south from the stables, either on foot or on horseback. Cross the bridge with the sign post towards Whiterun.

  3. After crossing the bridge, continue for a couple of yards. You’ll see a dirt path on the right that leads off the stone road. Travel down this straight path until you cross another stone bridge. Then continue on until you'll reach Dushnikh Yal.
    • Dushnikh Yal is an Orc stronghold surrounded by wood/log fences.
  4. Once you’re near the Dushnikh Yal gate, take the path to the right. Follow this winding path up until you pass Purewater Run. It's a cave with a small creek coming out that immediately leads to a waterfall. It's to the right on the side of the road.
    • You may need to get off the path you’re on to discover Clearwater Run. You can also continue on your course.
  5. As you travel down the path passed Purewater Run (you don’t need to go inside the cave), you’ll eventually come across another stone bridge. Cross this bridge and continue down the path until you see some shadows of tall stone formations on the horizon.
  6. Head towards the stone formation and you’ll reach Hag Rock Redoubt. Behind the rock formations, you’ll see a watchtower. A Forsworn will come out and attack you.
  7. Kill the Forsworn and enter the watchtower. Once you get to the top, you’ll see a stone bridge that leads to an open area. Cross this bridge and follow the path.
    • Alternatively, you can take the path to the left and go around the watch tower. Go under the archways and passed the entrance to Hag Rock Redoubt Ruin on the left.
  8. Once you cross the stone bridge, you will see more stone steps leading up to the top of the ruins. Be careful as you make your way up. Watch out for the troll and the Forsworn Foragers.
  9. Once you reach the top of the steps, there is an ornate doorway made of stone on the right. This is the entrance to Dead Crone Rock.
