This wikiHow teaches you how to delete or mute a group text conversation, using Android. Deleting the conversation is the only way to leave a group message, but if you receive a new message in the same group, the thread will show up in your inbox again.

  1. Find the group message thread you want to delete on the list of your recent messages, and open it.

  2. This button is in the upper-right corner of your message conversation. It will open a drop-down menu.
  3. This option will delete the selected group conversation, and remove it from your Messages app.
    • If you're prompted to confirm your action, tap OK to confirm and delete the group.

    How do you delete yourself from group chats?

    You don't as you can see from the example. You just delete the conversation and mute all the texts that you would have received in that chat. If you don't mute, it just pops back up in your messages. So to answer the question, you can't delete yourself from group chats.

      • If you delete the group and somebody messages the same group again, you'll still receive the incoming message and a notification.
      • If you just don't want notifications from this group, disable notifications, and wait until everybody stops messaging before you delete the group thread.
