    Made in Abyss is an anime combining dark fantasy and science fiction. In the show, the Abyss is an unfathomably deep hole filled with layers of strange creatures, monsters, danger, mystery, and ancient artifacts. A young orphan, Riko, lives near the edge of the Abyss and dreams of delving to the very bottom to find her mother; thus, she becomes a Cave Raider-in-training and ventures forth with a small group of friends.
