You may know the character Black Canary (from comic books and was shown on the CW show Arrow), she chose her name because of a pet that she had as a young girl and her love for the bird. There is also Black Panther (from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, who made his debut in Civil war and is now gaining his own movie), who chose a panther because of his culture.
