Sometimes you do. For example, if you are in a relationship and something you are doing is upsetting your partner, it shows that you care about their feelings if you change your behavior. Sometimes, though, the answer is no. For example, if your boyfriend doesn't want you to cut your hair in a certain style, you don't have to listen to him.

    Top Answerer
You can't control others' actions, only your own. It sounds like you aren't doing anything wrong. Sometimes when people are unkind to you, it's not your fault; maybe they're unkind people by nature, or they were having a bad day.
  • Question
How do I improve my confidence?
    Community Answer
Many people have issues with this. I hype myself up each morning by standing in front of my mirror and saying, "I am strong, beautiful, kind, confident," etc. If you say it enough times, you eventually start to believe it. Wear clothes you feel confident in. Don't spend time with people who make you feel bad. I also like to practice speaking in front of a mirror and imagine I'm speaking to millions of people, as I have trouble speaking up in front of groups sometimes. It really helps!
  • Question
How do I respect parents when they upset me?
    Community Answer
Remember that they're just trying to do what's best for you, even if it feels unfair. You'll be able to do whatever you want when you're an adult. For now, things will be a whole lot easier for you if you respect your parents. Follow their rules and don't talk back to them. If they punish you, accept it without throwing a tantrum. If you get angry, find a healthy way to deal with your feelings, like journaling, making art, exercising, listening to music, etc.
  • Question
What do I do if I'm being a proper young lady and I'm disrespected?

Ignore the person that is disrespecting you, or say something polite but caustic, like, "Excuse me, but don't you have anything better to do with your time than insult me? How sad."

  • Question
How does one feel safe with a guy?
    Community Answer
Just relax. If he doesn't like you for who you are, then you know to move on. If you mean how to be safe like, physical wise, just be very cautious around him and look at how he acts around you, if you feel uncomfortable, tell a trusted adult, or someone you trust and don't go out with him again.
  • Question
How do I greet people and be friendly with people who look down on me?
    Community Answer
You can try and politely show them your manners and courtesy––this will show the people who look down on you that you're a nice person. A simple "Hello." or 'Hi!" will suffice. Also, act like you are their equal even if you don't feel it. They cannot see inside your head and your body language will reflect equality rather than submissive behavior.
