How can I secure the corners of the duvet if there aren't any fasteners on the duvet or cover?

My duvet cover has stripes. Does it matter if the stripes go across the bed or up and down?

If it is square, it does not matter whether the stripes go horizontally or vertically, however, if it is rectangular, you will need to match the long and short sides to each other. Then, you will have to lay the duvet the correct way to cover your mattress.
