I assume you are talking about Microsoft Excel or another spreadsheet program. In most spreadsheet programs, you can click on the cell and there will be a large text field at the top of the spreadsheet itself that shows what is in the currently highlighted cell. If you paste your content in that box, it shouldn't erase what is already in the cell.
