No, do not replace the screw-on lid. Just replace the rubber-banded cheesecloth after rinsing and draining, put the jar at a 45-degree angle with the mouth facing downward (to allow more drainage and to allow air circulation) and leave in a dark place until you rinse them again.

Instead, just buying dried mung beans to sprout is far easier. Go to a natural foods market that sells bulk items and buy a small bag for a very low price, or buy them online.
