    Expert Answer
It's best to choose a spot about halfway between the top of the window moulding and the ceiling. If you want a more dramatic look, hang the rod right at the ceiling level.
  • Question
Is there a tool to reach high curtain rods to open and close the curtains? If so, what is it called?
    Community Answer
Tools specifically made to reach high curtain rods are called curtain wands. In a pinch, you could also use a broom handle.
  • Question
Can I hang grommet curtains together with pocket curtains?
    Community Answer
Yes, you can hang grommet curtains on one side and pocket curtains on the other. You risk, however, creating a mismatched look. It is not recommended to hang curtains on top of each other because this would look bulky and risk overbearing the curtain rod brackets.
  • Question
What kind of anchors are best?
    Community Answer
The type of anchors you use depend on your brackets and curtain rod. A simple sleeve anchor may work for some rods but others (especially heavier curtain rods) may require anchors with extra support.
  • Question
Which curtains are best to use with hooks?
    Community Answer
You can use any light-weight curtain with hooks.
  • Question
What kind of rod would I use to hang sheers, drapes and valances? Do they make just one to do all three?
    Community Answer
No, there are many different kinds and sizes. A lot depends on the weight of the fabric. Check with your local home improvement store -- they will be able to help you choose the right rods.
  • Question
How do I hang ready-made curtains?
    Community Answer
Feed each eyelet over the pole; make sure that the leading and outside edge of the curtain points inwards towards the window. Position the final eyelet between the bracket and the finial.
  • Question
I only want my drapes on each side of the window - can I use a 30 inch rod?
    Community Answer
The measurements of your rod depends on your window width. Use a measuring tape and write down your window width to determine the right size.
  • Question
Where should I place a curtain rod in relation to the window frame?
    Community Answer
You should place the curtain rod several inches or centimeters away from the frame. This will make the window appear wider.
