    Expert Answer
There are medical standards about obesity, but when people use the term "overweight" it's often based on their perception of where they should be. We all have a shape we should be proud of—rather than wearing huge, baggy, loose clothes that hide your true shape, dress to accentuate your waist wherever it is, perhaps with a belt, or a jacket with a drawstring.
  • Question
How can I lose weight easily when I don't have any support?
    Community Answer
Losing weight is a desire that comes from within. I understand it's discouraging when the people around you are not supportive of your decision or don't help you in your journey, but you have to rely on yourself for support first and foremost. Lose weight to be healthier, not to please people. Use positive self-talk as a source of support for yourself. If you want external support, there are a lot of online groups and communities that promote body positivism and weight loss support.
  • Question
I'm a very heavy 13-year-old and I always struggle with my weight and confidence. Should I embrace my body or change it?
    Community Answer
It's up to you. If you're unhappy with your body and you want to lose weight, go ahead and do it (safely, by making moderate changes in your diet and exercise). But don't change your body to please someone else or to fit in. You're beautiful just the way you are.
  • Question
How do I make myself look better and still adhere to my school's dress code?
    Community Answer
I would wear a nice flowy top with skinny jeans and a leather jacket, something to that effect. My school also has a very strict dress code, and it sometimes can be hard to wear something cute that flatters your body while not revealing a lot of cleavage. I would head towards something that is cute that flatters you while also covering the right amount of cleavage. I would mix and match different styles. Do whatever makes you happy!
  • Question
Is it okay for a school girl to be obese?
    Community Answer
It's not okay insofar as it's bad for your health. Aside from that, you have the same right anyone else does to get your education and enjoy life!
  • Question
What kinds of shirts will help me look good?
    Community Answer
Personally, I have found that you just have to experiment with different clothing styles to see what works best with your body shape, hairstyle, etc. I have found that I enjoy off-the-shoulder shirts, dresses, and flowing tank tops, so I would recommend starting there!
  • Question
How do I wear a two-piece bikini if I'm obese?
    Community Answer
Wear high-waisted bottoms, or just wear a cute one-piece with cutouts in the sides.
  • Question
I am a big 12 year old. How do I look good to impress a boy without looking too big?
    Community Answer
Wear what makes you feel confident and shows off your favorite features about yourself. Black is a slimming color, so you can try wearing black high waisted pants with a top that suits your eye color, matches your jewelry or shoes, or simply shows off those cute shoulders while being flattering over the bigger areas. Dress up your look with coordinated jewelry, shoes, and a tad bit of lipstick if you like that. Remember to walk confidently and smile!
