  • Question
How do I get hair out of my vacuum cleaner's castor wheels?
    Community Answer
A seam ripper (like one from a craft/sewing store) should be able to slice the hairs. I'd suggest tweezers to pull on the hair clumps as well. Additionally, see if the wheels can be removed.
  • Question
Can a vacuum get damaged if it gets wet?
    Community Answer
Yes, depending on the type of vacuum that it is. Some vacuums will be fine if they get wet, while others will be damaged from the water.
  • Question
Is there a hole in the back of the brush that gets clogged so dirt won't go into the bag?
    Community Answer
No. Anything you suck up will go into the bag. Pick up anything big enough to get stuck before you start.
  • Question
Where is the air filter located on a Hoover self-propelled vacuum? It is about 20 years old.
    Community Answer
You may be able to find the owner's manual online. Your vacuum should have a model number on it somewhere, google "Hoover + (model number) + owner's manual" and hopefully you'll find what you need.
  • Question
I have a crevice which is stuck tightly on the metal vacuum cleaner tube. What can I do?
    Community Answer
Go to a garage, and ask them to spray the piece that is stuck with a lubricant.
  • Question
What can I do if the plastic attachment is stuck on the solid plastic tube?
    Community Answer
Remove both from the hose and place the unpowered attachment and tube end in hot (not boiling) water until both the attachment and tube are hot. (Be careful not to melt the plastic!) Remove and attempt to twist to separate. If unsuccessful, immediately immerse the pieces in a sink or bucket filled with ice water. This will cause the inner tube to shrink, usually faster than the attachment will. After 10-30 seconds or so, remove and twist to separate. It may help to repeat the process using hot water. If this doesn't work, it is possible that the attachment and tube have become chemically bonded. If that is the case, you will have to obtain a replacement tube.
  • Question
When should the brush roll be replaced on my vacuum cleaner?
    Community Answer
The brush roll on your vacuum cleaner only needs to be replaced if it can no longer clean your carpet, so you will probably need to replace it once a year (depending on how often you use it).
  • Question
My Eureka emits debris when it is shut off. What can I do about this?
    Community Answer
Check the airflow when it shuts down. If it is below 5, then you need to fix your vacuum. By the way, what size debris is it? What model do you have? I would recommend the Eureka Powerplush if you have a lot of hard floors.
