    Expert Answer
I wouldn't recommend a tight ponytail every day because too much tension is not good for your hair follicle. This tension can eventually compromise and break the hair. I always suggest a loose ponytail with a scrunchie for an every day style.
  • Question
What if my hair parts in the middle?
    Katie Nguyen
    Community Answer
My hair parts in the middle as well! Just flip your hair upside down, comb through the middle with your fingers (the middle as in your hair part), flip your hair back up, and keep your head bent back. If you don't bend your head back, your hair part will come back.
  • Question
How do I get rid of frizzy hair without hairspray or any heat products?
    Kh3347
    Community Answer
If you were naturally born with frizzy hair, then you might need to use a product either in the shower or after you get out, like a smoothing gel. If not, try using coconut oil. It helps straighten and smooth out hair. Lastly, make sure you're using conditioner along with shampoo as conditioner can help minimize frizziness.
  • Question
Why is my hair always bumpy every time I think the ponytail is perfect?
    Community Answer
Wavy or curly hair can be difficult to get perfectly smooth. Use a wide brush and straighten your hair beforehand.
  • Question
How can I do a high pony with thick long hair?
    Community Answer
Use the same steps, it will just take a bit longer. I use these steps every day before my cheer and gymnastics practices.
  • Question
I have curly hair, will this work?
    Community Answer
Do the same but straighten your hair first, or else you'll have the bumps.
  • Question
What if I have tiny strands of hair popping out?
    Community Answer
You can use a product, iron your hair, or use bobby pins or clips. I personally use Frizz-Ease.
  • Question
How do I make high side ponytails?
    Community Answer
Brush your hair to the side as high as you can and then just do it like a regular ponytail, but on the side and higher.
  • Question
What should I do for my short hairs in the back? Should I ask someone to help me hide them?
    Community Answer
You can. If there is no one to help you, either use grips or a bit of hairspray on a toothbrush.
  • Question
How do I do it with short hair?
    Community Answer
Depending on how short your hair is, it might not be able to go that high. If there is a section of hair in the back that falls out, you can use clips or bobby pins to secure those fallen pieces of hair. Hairspray also helps a lot.
  • Question
Can I make a high ponytail with thick hair?
    Community Answer
Yes. My hair is very thick and I can still do it. Just make sure you get all the tangles out.
  • Question
Can I do this with only a brush and not a comb?
    Community Answer
You could probably use a brush. But I would only do that if I was in a hurry. It's going to take you longer if you want all of your hair smooth with no little hairs sticking out.
  • Question
How can I make a high ponytail with no bumps if I have long, thin hair?
    Community Answer
My suggestion would be to flip your whole head over, then grab hold of your hair and tie it up. Then you could spray it with hairspray or dry shampoo to make it smoother if you want.
  • Question
How do I make a high ponytail without a straightener?
    Community Answer
Use a brush to smooth the hair.
  • Question
What do I do if I have sweeping bangs?
    Katie Nguyen
    Community Answer
If you have sweeping bangs, you can just use a bobby pin or a headband to keep them up after tying up your hair.
  • Question
How can I control my frizzy hair?
    Community Answer
You can prepare it by straightening it, and use hairspray afterwards to smooth it.
  • Question
How do I get the baby hairs in the front?
    Community Answer
If they're long enough, try pulling it back into the ponytail by grabbing it and pulling it into the rest of the ponytail. If not, then put them behind your ears or hide them under the rest of your hair.
  • Question
What if the method didn't work on my hair?
    Community Answer
This works with thick hair more easily than thin hair. Flipping your head down and brushing it will add a little volume and make the process easier.
  • Question
How do I curl my ponytail naturally?
    Unicorn Fangirl
    Community Answer
You can make an overnight bun by tying your hair in a ponytail and wrapping your hair around the base of your ponytail.
  • Question
How can I straighten my frizzy hair naturally so I can make a high ponytail?
    Community Answer
It might help to wash it with more conditioner than you are used to. Or, use a hair mask, then step out of the shower, let it sit for 20 minutes, turn the shower back on and rinse it out. Repeat this as necessary to make the frizz go down.
  • Question
Would the product Frizz-Ease work when making a high ponytail?
    Community Answer
Yes, this product will work on smoothing out the hair in the ponytail.
  • Question
Will the ponytail work just as well if I don’t do the two separate ones?
    Rachel Revell
    Community Answer
Yes, it will. I have the same issue, and I don't have the time or the will to do the two seperate ones.
  • Question
How do I make a high ponytail with no bumps when I'm in a hurry?
    Community Answer
As soon as you start making your ponytail, just quickly spray you hair with hairspray and use a good quality brush, as it can easily make your hair slick and more shiny. Then, flip your hair upside down and brush the back or your hair. Gather your hair with your hands and hold the ponytail. Then, flip your hair back up and tie it with a hair tie!
  • Question
What happens if I don't own a hair straightener?
    Community Answer
I don’t always use a hair straightener because I know how much it damages hair. To keep it healthy, I just do a normal high ponytail. If your hair is to poofy or thick, use lots of hair spray or just get your hair reasonably wet before you put it up. As the article said, use a toothbrush (preferably clean) with hairspray on it, to get loose hairs in your ponytail or on the top of your head to stay down.
