To make a stonecutter you need 3 pieces of stone and 1 iron ingot. You can't use cobblestone or other variants of stone, it has to be stone you get from smelting cobblestone in a furnace or from mining stone with a silk touch pickaxe. You need to open a crafting table, place the 3 pieces of stone across the bottom row, and place the iron ingot in the middle of the middle row.

You can't make any bigger books in Minecraft, but you can make a book and quill that you can write in and place on a lecturn. To make a book and quill, open your survival inventory and place a book, a feather, and ink sac next to each other in the 4 crafting slots. This will make a book and quill. You can hold it and right click to type in the book. Then, you can hold the book and right click a lecturn to place the book on it, and right click the lecturn again to read the book.
