    Expert Answer
There might be an issue with the mower's spark plug or oil. The gasoline in your mower might also be too old (especially if it's been in the tank for several months/over a year).
  • Question
What kind of oil is required for the small container under the seat? Is it different from the engine oil?
    Community Answer
It is hydraulic fluid and has greater temperature demands than regular oil. Use the type recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Question
How can I keep from making grooves in the lawn?
    Community Answer
Using a three point turn at the end of each row instead of one single turn will prevent the inside wheel from spinning and creating divots. The sheer weight of the machine is usually what causes the compaction and can be minimised by not using a bagger, weights or a heavy operator. Avoid using it when the ground is wet, as well, since this will create the worst compaction. Finally, wider tires spread the load over a greater area, which will help.
  • Question
My ZTM will not crank. The deck was accidentally lowered before the mower was turned off, now we can't get it to crank. How do I get the deck to raise up so it will crank?
    Community Answer
First go get it checked out. It might be something you can't fix; it might be way worse than what you're thinking it is.
  • Question
I have a toro zero turn mower, ss 3200, that will not start. When I turn the key the motor turns but it doesn't seem to get any gas. Therefore, the engine just turns but not start. What is the problem?

The engine turns, which means all safeties are good and the battery is charged, so it sounds like the choke may not be on. Some mowers have the choke built into the the throttle, in which case you will have to push the throttle into the choke position. Most mowers have a separate little knob you pull up to turn on the choke. In this case move the throttle around to the half point, pull the choke up, then try to crank the engine. If it starts, push the choke down and get mowing! If the choke doesn't work, then try checking to see if the mower has a fuel shutoff, and make sure gas is flowing in it. If none of this works, then get the engine checked out; it s probably an easy fix.
  • Question
What does the throttle do? Does it control the maximum speed of the lawn mower? Where do I put the fuel in the tank?

The throttle controls the engine speed, it does not directly affect the speed of the mower that much. That is a common misconception with these mowers. When you are mowing it is best to run the mower at 80% to full throttle, and make sure you lower throttle all the way before shutting the mower off to prevent engine damage.
