How can I receive information from applications and sites to my new Gmail address instead of the old Yahoo one?

You might want to add a forwarder in your Yahoo account, that way all your emails will be copied to new Gmail address. Keep in mind to update your email address in the services you use once you are set you can disable the forwarder.

Am I am able to take my AOL contact list and save or export it to Gmail?

Yes, you are. Click the Settings gear in Gmail. Then select Settings in the menu that comes up. Select the Accounts and Import tab and click on Import mail and contacts. If you have previously imported mail, click Import from another address. Enter your AOL email address under, What account do you want to import from? Click Continue, and you are set.
