  • Question
Why does one of the other answers suggest feeding eggs to chickens?
    Community Answer
Chickens can and do eat eggs, so some people will give them to chickens as a snack, but it's not generally recommended that you encourage them to eat eggs (since this could, by extension, encourage them to crack and eat perfectly good eggs).
  • Question
What are some good chicken treats?

For homemade treats, I would recommend several kernels of corn or a mashed up boiled egg. (The latter is highly recommended as eggs are very healthy.) You could also buy some treats at your local tractor supply or farming store.
  • Question
How can I train my chicken to fight a cat? Cats eat my chicks.
    Community Answer
You cannot train your chicken to fight. You will have to just keep the chickens in a separate room/area away from the cat.
  • Question
Can I learn my chicken's language, I already have a chicken that comes when I call its name and it trusts me.
    Community Answer
Chickens do have a "language", and, if you listen to them you can sometimes understand what they are saying. There are certain clucks that they use for different circumstances. Spend time observing and getting to know the meanings.
  • Question
What if my chickens are about 4 months old and are scared for me to get even 6 feet close?

This is a very common problem in chickens. Try to use treats to bribe the chickens over. You can sprinkle the treat in front of your feet and depending on how much they like the treat, they might just not be able to help themselves to come over and eat it so make sure the treat is something they really like (but nothing that would harm them). Do this every 2 or 3 days and soon, the hens will realise you pose no threat to them and you will be able to walk over to them. Note though that the hens will probably run to 'move out of your way' sometimes so they're basically respecting you!
