  • Question
What is a good beginner amp?
    Community Answer
Smaller Marshal and Fender amps about 10W are perfect for a beginner.
  • Question
Do I have to turn all of the amp's knobs down before turning on the amp?
    Community Answer
If it's not your amp and you don't know how loud it is, at least turn the volume knob down to avoid any loud noise /feedback. If it's your amp and you've used it before, then you may turn it on right away.
  • Question
Can I play bass through a guitar amp?
    Nathan.Silva
    Community Answer
No, you cannot! Doing so will destroy the speaker's cone.
  • Question
If I buy an amp will it come with a cable to power it?
    Community Answer
It usually does, but you should check the specifications on the item to be sure.
  • Question
What is the cheapest non-practice amp?
    Community Answer
It depends on how much volume you need out of your "performance" amp. If you're looking at solid-state or digital modeling amplifiers, I recommend you get at least a 75-watt amp. For tube amps, you want at least a 20-watt. Tube amps are more expensive and not as reliable, though. Line 6 and Fender make good-quality digital modeling amps that retail around $300 in the 75-watt range, but you should always wait for sales or look for deals on eBay or Craigslist.
  • Question
What cable do I need to plug my electric guitar amp into a wall outlet?
    Community Answer
The name of the power cable is called IEC power cables. They are common cables that power a variety of electronics including some computer desktops.
  • Question
Can you play a hollowbody guitar through an acoustic amplifier?
    Community Answer
Yes, you can play a hollowbody guitar through an acoustic amp. You'll get a better tone out of a standard electric guitar. If you're playing soft jazz or something that doesn't require "grit," the acoustic amp should be fine.
  • Question
Can I connect a voice mic and guitar to one amp?
    Jamie Lange
    Community Answer
It is generally not possible to connect 2 things to 1 amp, with a few rare exceptions. Vocal microphones also require a different cable, so if you wanted to connect a microphone to a guitar amp, it would have to be a dynamic microphone and you would need a cable with XLR (female) that fits the microphone in one end and a jack end that fits into the amp.

    KAILYNN 7519911
