The 11th day of the 11th month is when the UK commemorate those who lost their lives serving in the armed forces. The poppy is symbolic of remembrance and worn for this purpose. Wearing a Poppy Appeal poppy from the 12th of November onwards could appear disrespectful, as if the wearing was not commemorating the 11th day of the 11th month. The poppy is less significant as a symbol after November the 11th.
