Check your total steps taken on iPhone
Have you ever wondered how many steps you've taken during the day? With the Health app on your iPhone, you can easily check if you've met your walking goal. If this is your first time checking, you'll need to set up a health profile first. Here's how to see how many steps you've walked on an iPhone.

- Set up your health profile.
- Tap Show Health Data under "Favorites".

Setting Up Your Health Profile

Open the Health app on your iPhone. Before your iPhone can keep track of your steps, you must set up your health profile in the Health app. This ensures that your iPhone can accurately count your steps based on your height and other physical traits. [1] X Research source
- Once you set up your health profile, other Apple devices can also sync your health data, such as an Apple Watch .
- If you already have this set up, skip to Checking Your Steps .

Tap Continue twice. If this is your first time using the Health app, you'll see information about the app and its security.
- If you see the Summary dashboard instead, tap your profile picture in the top-right corner and select Health Details .

Enter your basic information and tap Next . While all fields are optional, more information can help your iPhone calculate your steps more accurately. You can enter the following:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Date of Birth
- Sex
- Height
- Weight

Allow notifications and tap Continue . By default, Trends will be toggled on. If you don't want to receive a notification when there's a new trend in your data, toggle the switch off (grey).
- You should now see your Summary page. You can now check your steps .

Checking Your Steps

Tap Show Health Data in the Health app. You can find this on the Summary tab underneath the Favorites header. A new page will open with all your synced data.

Tap Steps . This tile can be found near the top. You'll now see detailed data about your step activity.

See how many steps you’ve walked. Now you can adjust the graph to get more refined results:
- Tap the D , W , M , 6M , and Y tabs at the top of the screen to view specific step data on the bar graph for each period.
- Swipe left or right on the graph to navigate between days/weeks/months/years, or tap the current listed date to choose a new date from a calendar.
- Scroll down to view your Highlights , such as average steps per day/week/year, or tap See All to see how your Highlights compare overall.

Manually add steps (optional). If you know how many steps you walked without your iPhone on you, you can add your steps manually. Just tap Add Data in the top-right corner to manually add your steps.

Adding Steps to Your Favorites

Tap the Summary tab in the Health app. To make it easier to see how many steps you've walked on your iPhone, you can add Steps to your Favorites section.
- You should see the Summary tab at the bottom-left corner. You may already be on this tab.

Tap Edit next to "Favorites". The Favorites section should be at the very top of the screen. A new menu will open.

Select Steps . The star on the right will be filled, indicating that Steps is selected.
- If you want to add other data to your Favorites, such as walking and running distance , tap it to select it now.

Tap Done . This will add your steps to the Favorites section.
