All About Balding

How common is balding? Extremely common! Studies show that by the age of 25, ⅔ of all men will experience hair loss, and 40% of women will experience hair loss by the age of 40. It’s a natural process that most people will experience to some degree, and is just another change that happens to our bodies as we grow and age.

Is there a way to stop balding? Yes, there are a number of medications and treatments available to prevent or stop hair loss. The most common is Minoxidil, or Rogaine, which is available over-the-counter, or by prescription in higher strengths. There are several other treatments available through a doctor, like anti-androgen treatments that suppress testosterone and other hormones associated with hair loss.

More commonly shifting your diet may help. Some people who experience hair loss are low on iron, and taking iron supplements may slow or halt the effects. Other supplements, like biotin, vitamin C, and protein are also linked to reduced hair loss.

Is there a way to reverse balding? Reversing hair loss isn’t as easy as preventing or stopping it, but it’s not impossible. This is a question that’s best to ask a doctor, who’ll be more familiar with your lifestyle and circumstances. Currently, the most effective methods are hair transplants, as well as a fairly new laser therapy technique.

Is balding a sign of poor health? Not usually, no! Again, it’s a totally natural process that happens with age. That said, if you experience rapid or sudden hair loss, it’s best to talk to a doctor. Sometimes, rapid hair loss can point to underlying problems like high stress, poor diet, or in rare cases, disease.

Do other people find baldness attractive? Of course! Many people consider a bald look incredibly refined, mature, and suave—even on women! It’s a look that shows confidence and grace. If you want proof, just look at all the bald or close-shaven celebs out there.

How can I rock a bald look?
If you ask us, it’s best to lean into it!
Shave your head down to complete the look, if you’re already headed in that direction. Men, a beard with a bald head is an excellent look, and even without a beard, accessories are an excellent way to show off your style. Use jewelry, hats, scarves, or other additions to add some visual interest. More than anything, just roll with it! Baldness is just another hairstyle, at the end of the day, and unless you're fretting and hiding, people probably won’t even notice.
